Thank you for your welcome message. I don't really know what I am doing and am just trying to understand how the Meta-wiki works, though I have several years of experience in Wikipedia in several languages. For some mysterious reason I was contacted by Cbrown1023 for the translation of several pages from English to Romanian.

I hope I did not make a mess. But where I am stuck is with the status template. I was not able to find how it looks and where to put it. I understand that after completing a page I should indicate proofread or done but there seems to be another secret to the procedure. Can you help in any way? Afil 01:29, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Ajax sysop (new version of obsolete script)

Hello Mardetanha. You were using "Getmoredata.js", which adds a list of subpages (and a block log for user pages) on the deletion form. That script has been replaced by the better-written and more extensible Ajax sysop. I switched you to the new script (see a screenshot comparing outputs); if you prefer to use the old script, I'll add the source code directly to your script file since it will no longer be maintained.

Mardetanha meets all of my criteria for what a steward should be, so I currently support. I believe the recusal statement is sufficient safety against the possibility of the tools being used against Iranians, which is a valid concern, but it appears to have been addressed. If it hasnt addressed your safety concerns, could you explain why? If Mardetanha needs to add more conditions to his recusal statement, you should suggest additions. Then you have protected Iranians.

You asked me to read this conversation here, and you are raising other more serious issues here, but I cant clearly see what you are talking about because I cant see the emails. I feel it is necessary that this is promptly investigated. The WMF board is not going to get involved. It would be nice if we had a "meta" arbitration committee which could act as an impartial group, but all proposals to create a "meta" arbitration committee have failed. It is the responsibility of the community, you asked me to read this conversation here, so I am offering to help. I can be a witness to the contents of the email, and obtain an independent translation if required, from someone who is not a Wikimedian, and they will not be informed who are the writer. If you wish, you can forward the emails to me at the email address listed at en:WP:ARBCOM.

I think that you should should also seek permission for someone else that you trust to also be permitted to view these email. This issue has nothing to do with arbitration. I asked the permission to disclose the content of that email conversation because it is relevant to the issue of check-user right and IMO relevant to this steward election and I believe that it is informative for those who want to vote in this election and those who decide about it (i.e. the board of trustees). An arbitration committee would provide a group of people entrusted with the responsibility of being impartial. We dont have any committee group like that on meta, so you need to work with Mardetanha to find person(s) who you both trust to view the emails and work with you both to create a summary that is agreeable to everyone, and can be provided to community to help them make an informed decision. Sorry, my oppose was influenced by what other opposers had stated and I misread some comments to mean that you had canvassed votes. Obviously, I have got that wrong. I have thus changed my vote to support. I can understand some of the other oppose comments, however, especially about being in Iran and having access to private information on Wikimedians, but I don't consider this a good reason to oppose and consider much of this to be Western concerns about Iran from a political perspective and feel this shouldn't spill over into a community like we have here. Salam Mardetanha. Necesiz? Bir məsələ ilə bağlı sizinlə məsləhətləşmək istəyirəm. Biz Az VikiMənbədə idarəçi seçkisi keçirmişik. Bu günə qədər orda idarəçi olmayıb. İndi VikiMənbə inkişaf etdiyinə görə idarəçiyə ehtiyac var. Ordakı seçkidə AzVikipediyanın ən fəal userləri namizədin lehinə səs veriblər. Səsvermə ilə bağlı qanun da son dövrlər hazırlandığına görə userlər onun özünə münasibət bildirməyiblər. Ona görə də qanunu əsas saya bilmərik. Amma namizəd kifayət qədər səs toplayıb. I can't see any good reason why this website (dedicated to pope John's birthplace, nicely designed, informative and not at all commercial) would be on any black list.. I will revert your revert. I have no stakes in this museum, but I'm rather well informed in re Catolica and there is absolutly nothing wrong with this website. Kind regards, RJB
