Renaming
Hi dferg! I've seen that you're changing your username and I'm thinking I ought to do the same. I still don't know if I'll be able to use my current name on all wikis. The bureaucrats are taking too long to perform my usurpation requests and I'm in doubt if this user will allow the usurpation of his username. My idea is to pick this name. It's unfortunately already taken but I believe I can usurp it as there are only unused accounts with zero or a few edits under that name. I don't know how I would proceed to pick it since it involves renaming and usurpation, being more complicated than your case.
In case that I stay as Striker and wait for this (supposing it's going to take some months), would I be able to request global rights (GR) or even adminship here on meta in the meanwhile?
Sorry for taking your time once again with this...
Best regards, Striker talk 20:00, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Striker. If you allow me a suggestion I'd choose a name that it's not taken on any project. Usurpations requires usually more time and proofs to be processed than a single rename which is one click. To request global rights, appart from meeting the requisites of the policy in question you need to have a fully-merged global account. For requesting adminship at meta you need to be a sysop on any Wikimedia-content-related project as per Meta:Administrators and Meta:Requests for adminship. If I can be of any help, please ask me again. Best regards, -- Dferg 14:06, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- Suggestions are always welcome . I looked around now and concluded that the needed usurpations would take no less than 2 weeks to be performed (2 weeks for jawiki and itwiki). The whole process may take about a month.
I've got to find a good name that hasn't been used, but this will be hard. Almost all good and common names have been taken. Just for curiosity, would I be allowed to start the procedure to rename my accounts to Defender? I know the consequences I'll have during the process . I would start renaming from my home wiki and the portuguese wikis, but I won't even begin if it won't be allowed.Regards, Striker talk 02:35, 31 August 2011 (UTC)- I got good news now. I've convinced the bureaucrat and succeeded the usurpation of he:User:Striker. Now the only concerns are en:User:Striker and commons:User:Striker (we need to convince them). The other unattached accounts are a matter of time to be usurped. My current doubt now is: if I have only one unattached account (the enwiki one), will this be a barrier for requesting global rollback? Striker talk 20:40, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
- A single project is not a barrier for global rollback. If granted it simply will not work at enwiki. Regards, -- Marco Aurelio 20:03, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
- May I ask you to move this account away? All my attempts to get the attention of the local bureaucrats resulted in nothing. No aguanto más esperar tanto tiempo. Regargs, Striker talk 15:45, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- Request placed here. Stewards can't rename on wikis with active local bureaucrats. It's policy. -- Marco Aurelio 16:27, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
- 5 days have passed and still no action from them. For me it sounds like they haven't understood our requests or are simply pretermitting them... otheryway, I'm surprised that in the past days/months I was able to revert more vandalism than now. I really miss a better revertion tool and am starting to feel useless here... --Striker talk 17:46, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Username
Hello MarcoAurelio, am I correct having understood you were looking for a username to usurp globally, an easy name to remember, from someone who did not make many edits? I think I came across something that might be of interest to you: Smyrna. Lotje 09:08, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Lotje. Thanks for your suggestion but I am already finished with the rename process. I've been renamed from User:Dferg to User:MarcoAurelio already. Thanks for your suggestion though. Very best, -- Marco Aurelio 09:10, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Steward endorsements at SRGP
Hi Marco, I see you purposely left the steward endorsement clause out of your close of the recent 5-day limit discussion at Talk:Steward requests/Global permissions. Do you think we should open a thread on the talk page or at Babel to get more views on the discussion, or is the issue simply waiting for an uninvolved user to evaluate consensus? I think it could be beneficial to get some more input on the matter, especially since many of the "per X" supporters were not explicit about supporting the steward endorsement clause as well. Regards, Jafeluv 12:14, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Tervehdys Jafe. Since it was not really part of the proposal I left that not implemented. Feel free to open a thread at Talk:SRGP. Like you I think that it needs wider discussion because those per were not very specific as you say. Kiitos. -- Marco Aurelio 14:11, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

My identity was confirmed a long time ago
I identified myself to the Foundation earlier this year, when I met with staff in San Francisco for a training session. I did not realize that I had to go through all that all over again! --Orange Mike 01:45, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

es:wikinews policy translation?
Dear Marco,
Could you post a translation of the es:wikinews accreditation policy into English? The policy looks good, and a translation will help get final confirmation from the WMF. (I know, we should also translate other policies into Spanish...)
I am looking into a longer-term fix that improves how our global trademark policy recognizes the right of Wikinews communities to use the mark for accreditation, which will make this easier the next time.

- Will try. Little time for a while. Work is crazy. Thank you.

Spammer
Hi MarcoAurelio. On mediawiki I blocked a spammer, Pokerfan xwiki-contribs • xwiki-date (alt) • ST • IP info • WHOIS • robtex • gblock • glist • abuselog • bullseye (non-sul btw). He promoted a poker website, see here for more information. Perhaps it's something to check out further? I hope I'll hear from you the results (if so). Kind regards, Trijnstel 15:06, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Trijnstel. What do you specifically need? CU? - I don't think it's really needed here unless similar spamming attempts from the same spammer has occured and other measures did not worked. If that's the case please do post at SRCU. -- Marco Aurelio 18:23, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- No, I thought maybe you could check it with COIBot. I didn't mean a checkuser. ;-) But if you don't think it's needed, than it's ok of course. Trijnstel 18:46, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, COIBot... sure. -- Marco Aurelio 18:50, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
- Will be generated here. Wait a while. Sorry for the delay, I'm busy IRL. —Marco Aurelio (disputatio) 18:45, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

Request for COIBot
Hi Marco. In addition to this I have a new request for you (read: COIBot). Please take a look here for more information about the spamming accounts and the website (titleexpertsatlanta.com). I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks in advance! (If you don't want me to bother you with this, who else can I ask to command the bot?). Kind regards, Trijnstel 19:23, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry Trijnstel. I don't have IRC access right now then I can't help you with that. Ask Beetstra. —Marco Aurelio (disputatio) 11:13, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- No problem. I will do that. Thanks anyway! Regards, Trijnstel 11:15, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
