We will be hosting a public event online to present the data, a few examples on how teams will be using it for annual planning, and what are next steps for this project. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 10, at 9:00 am PST (1600 UTC), and the presentation will be in English. Tech ambassadors, "take two"

Hello tech ambassador! This month has seen a good influx of new faces in this crew \o/ , so it is time to reactivate our conversations. Now that we have a pretty good coverage of so many different projects, here are some topics for your consideration.

1. Are there further thoughts on the role itself? I hope the questions available on Meta can help spark them. Please weigh in at Talk:Tech/Ambassadors/List#Tech ambassadors, take 2.

Request for help from Subbu (Parsing Team)

Hi there, ambassador! Subbu and his team would like to encourage a few big wikis to make a planned technical change slightly ahead of time, like the German and the Italian Wikipedia plus 170 other wikis already did last month. He'd appreciate if his message could be translated, before he posts it on the local village pump. (Once he does so, it would of course also be nice if you could keep an eye on the thread, should a conversation happen locally that requires his intervention and/or make sure that the message reaches the right people, but it's not a big deal if you can't!) He'll likely post there on Monday 15, and he'll just use the English version if a translation isn't available. Getting started on Phabricator

Greetings, ambassador!

As recently discussed within this group, we are ready to experiment with setting up a project and its related workboard on Phabricator, the platform used in the Wikimedia movement for project management, software bug reporting and feature requests. It will help us coordinate and cooperate better on projects that should require ambassadors' involvement.

For the time being, I'm just asking that you please add your Phabricator nickname next to your name in the ambassadors' table (you can create an account now if you don't have one already). Template Wizard script available for testing

Hello. I'm contacting you because you voted for the Infobox Wizard in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey.

The Infobox Wizard has gotten an upgrade - it's now a Template Wizard which works for infoboxes and all other templates. The feature is being developed as an extension (which will allow for localization) but there is a prototype user script which works well.

The Wishlist Team would love it if you could take a few minutes to try the Template Wizard prototype script out and give us feedback on whether it lives up to your expectations. This feedback will help build the script into an extension. To get started, add the following to your Special:MyPage/common.js -

The Template Wizard will show up as a puzzle-piece icon in the 2010 WikiEditor. You can click on the icon to insert a template. Interaction Timeline V1.1

Hello Jeblad, I’m following up with you because you previously showed an interest in the Interaction Timeline. The Anti-Harassment Tools team has completed V1.1 and the tool is ready for use. The Interaction Timeline shows a chronologic history for two users on pages where they have both made edits.

The purpose of the tool is to better understand the sequence of edits between two users in order to make a decision about the best way to resolve a user conduct dispute. Here are some test cases that show the results and also some known limitations of the tool. We would like to hear your experience using the tool in real cases. You can leave public feedback on talk page or contact us by email if the case needs discretion or you would prefer to comment privately. New community space for IdeaLab on Connect

Inspire Campaign on Measuring Community Health

Do you have an idea about how to measure the health of your community? Do you want to review ideas that others have submitted? Through August 10th, we are inviting ideas on how to capture the well-being of Wikimedia communities, in terms of matters like conflict resolution, effective content creation, and being able to contribute in a collaborative environment. Ideas can be focused on either quantitative techniques, such as gathering raw data, or qualitative techniques, like surveying contributors. If you are submitting an idea, guidance is available for how to move your idea into implementation, such as through a grant or starting a Phabricator task to engage with developers.

User reporting system consultation

Hello,

You are receiving this message because you have previously created or commented on an idea related to reporting harassment; and may have an interested in giving feedback about a new initiative to develop a user reporting system.

The Wikimedia Foundation's Community health initiative plans to design and build a new user reporting system to make it easier for people experiencing harassment and other forms of abuse to provide accurate information to the appropriate channel for action to be taken.

The success of this project depends on collecting ideas and feedback from people in a variety of different roles in the Wikimedia movement. To this end, there will be a multi-phased consultation where you can participate in ways that you find most comfortable.

Hi

One might say that an odd campaign, involving some linguists (no one explicitly named), has reached a "Scandinavian wikipedia".
This [1] linked photo, is posted (as of December 2019) in the infobox of a linguist.

(If it walks, quacks and talks like part of a campaign, then ... campaign.)

If you would like to give wikipedia, one (more) gift, then please consider removing the photo, on your own.

(There is no indication that the lizzard-like faceless figure, is
the linguist in question.)

(I might not yet entertain the idea that someone has put the photo there, to "invite" me to trespass, of sorts.)

The photo is not worthy of Jimbo Wales 's wikipedia, so to speak, in the setting of being placed in the infobox.

If there is a case-relevant reason to thank you (around year 2020 or 2021=, then I will log in and thank you, promptly.
