Add topicWelcome to Meta!
[edit]
Hello Jagwar, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). If you would like, feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Happy editing! --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 12:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
re:Welcome to the Malagasy Wiktionary !
[edit]Hello Jagwar, thanks for the kind welcome, I am not a regular user there, I just fixed the interface, because I noted that wikt:mg:MediaWiki:Newarticletext was broken due to wikt:mg:MediaWiki:Helppage the linking to a category was not correctly displayed in the newarticle therefore I just worked around that by creating a redirect.
For getting adminship there, I recommend to make a local announcement and then I see no problem in granting You temporary rights (technically absolutely the same, so don't worry) for three months (that can be prolonged easily).
Both links You gave us in srp are leading to empty pages: [1] [2], if You correct them, we can proceed.
Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 12:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
- The namespace-names can be changed in special:magic [3], if You wish to change the name of the project-namespace You need to gather community consens and make a request at bugzilla: (don't forget to put "shell" as keyword) (I am not sure if Siebrand can change it per request on betawiki, maybe ask him~)
- Best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:33, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
"Hide" / "Help us with translations!"
[edit]Hey Jagwar, thanks for translating the notices for Wikimania into Malagasy! However, we don't have a translation for "Hide" and "Help us with translations!" (other languages already had it, yours did not :-(). Would you mind translating it here? Thanks! Cbrown1023 talk 20:35, 13 March 2009 (UTC) Done Jagwar 交談 homewiki 21:32, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Hey Jagwar. Thanks for translating the Steward elections guidelines into Malagasy. However, I noticed that we're actually missing a translation for the CentralNotice (the message that's shown at the top of all wiki pages) into mg/Malagasy. Would you mind translating that here? Cbrown1023 talk 21:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hello Jagwar. Thank you for your translation work. I noticed that the translated Guidelines sections do not seem to match the English text (updated January 16). For example, there are three candidate account requirements in the translated version, but four in the original English version. Could you look into that? When it's done, I'll mark it published. —Pathoschild 21:30:45, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- Done The section sosokevitra is a summary of the three points, now, nothing is missing.. --Jagwar 交談 homewiki 19:26, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Supplementary messages
[edit]Hello Jagwar.
I noticed that you translated the fundraiser's core messages into Malagasy (mg), thank you for your help! Although the fundraiser is over, your translation work will still be used until next November (when we get new forms).
Unfortunately, there are some missing messages and pages that were not included in the original request. Would you mind translating these supplementary messages too?
Thanks for your help, and please feel free to leave a message on m:Talk:Fundraising 2009/supplementary messages if you have any questions! Cbrown1023 talk 16:44, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!
[edit]Hi! I just want to thank you and give you this barnstar for your help with the translation of the 2011 fundraiser! The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. We couldn't have done either one without the help we got from you and other translators. If you are interested, we made a report, which has some statistics about the translations.
And: I have one more request, and that is that you take this survey. You may have got an e-mail about it, and if you did, please ignore this. But if you didn't it would be great if you would take this survey too, so we can learn to improve the translation experience.
Again, thanks for your help with translations – you're awesome! Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 13:30, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Re: WMF travel guide project
[edit]Hi Jagwar, while the RfC is now closed, I wanted to respond to your comment there [4]. The initiative behind the proposal comes not from the Wikimedia Foundation, but rather from the Wikitravel community, driven above all by its administrators [5]. Some of the rationale is spelled out here, but perhaps the most important goals would be 1. to re-unite the Wikitravel and Wikivoyage communities, and to merge them with the Wikimedia community, 2. to secure better tech support, and 3. to restore community control over the project itself—the relationship between Wikitravellers and the site host, Internet Brands, is extraordinarily dysfunctional and even abusive [6][7][8][9]. As you can see just from those links—to speak nothing of the very unusual and unhealthy-for-a-wiki goings ons at Wikitravel itself—there are several reasons why the Wikitravel community thinks it is time to migrate elsewhere [10]. --Peter Talk 22:52, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
Good day, I'd like to invite you to Wikimedia Indigenous Languages, its role is to coordinate the projects to develop the Wikimedia projects in small and under-represented languages, so your participation will be very welcomed. Thanks, Amqui (talk) 19:03, 2 September 2012 (UTC) P.S.
Bien cordialement, --Jagwar grrr... 20:00, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

Wikimedia News
[edit]Your latest changes to Wikimedia News didn't undo all the bogus changes the anon editor made to the page, so I've just reverted it back to my last version before the anon's changes (and now I'm about to add the latest news). - dcljr (talk) 02:34, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Superprotect letter update
[edit]Hi Jagwar,
Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.
Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.
I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.
Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.
Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.
Thank you for your engagement on this issue, and please stay in touch. -Pete F (talk) 18:41, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Superprotect status
[edit]Dear Jagwar, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.
- Request for comment: Requests for comment/Superprotect rights
- An open letter about its implementation: Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer

[edit]Hello, I understand you speak Malagasy. I was wondering if you can translate "Village in China", "Commune in Morocco", and "village in Indonesia". It is for updating Wikidata. Thanks in advance. --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 23:19, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
