Translator, We need you!

Dear Erdrokan,

You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.

Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.

The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. Superprotect letter update

Hi Erdrokan,

Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.

Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.

I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.

Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.

Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.

Bonjour et merci de votre acceuil.

En débutant ma contribution dans Wikipedia, j'ai mis en ligne des images de gravures anciennes, dont je possède l'ouvrage et que j'ai scannés. L'ouvrage est le Panckoecke de 1774, de résolution moyennes de 2000 pixels de largeur environ.

De plus j'ai mis en ligne une série de photos, dont je pense quelles pourrait servir à l'éducation (toutes sont de moi et libres de droit, voir mon site de "brainstormixing.eu" qui contient les imagettes de mes ouvrages de ma bibliothèque.)

A ce sujet, j'ai ms en ligne une partie de ma bibliothèque sur le site de "Calameo" (450 ouvrages environ en mode PDF).

Ma question est: comment mettre a disposition ces ouvrages (tous libres de droit et de plus de 75 ans d'anciennetés), vers Wikipedia ?voir liste ici :(http://www.calameo.com/subscriptions/248191) compte tenu que certain fond plud de 100Mo !

Après avoir chargé les photos etles planches du "Panckoecke sur Wikipedia, et il semble qu'il sont bien passé ? je ne retrouve pas l'endroit ou se trouve mes chargements, la case/flèche du titre ne me permet pas de continuer de joindre mes explications à mes photos techniques, que je ne retrouve pas ?

Merci de m'orienter dans ma recherche de mes photos dans wiki Commons, pour que je puisse complèter les explications utiles de ces images.

J'ai récemment ajouté une photo qui manquait au profile de Linda Lorin que vous avez retiré car d'après la description la photo n'est pas libre.

Pourriez vous m'expliquer ce qui est nécessaire pour pouvoir l'utiliser dans ce cas là svp ? Est ce que l'autorisation de la personne qui a prise la photo suffirait ?

I got your message which I presume was triggered by my edit of the Caroline Weldon page on the Italian-language wikipedia.I was the primary contributor for the English-language page and also creator of the German-language page. I was compelled to edit a minor detail on the English and German pages and discovered that there was newly also an Italian page (seemingly simply translated off my two pages in English and German). I have been part of Wikipedia for some years now, but today was the first time on the Italian version. I am curious, although I made a minor edit on the Italian page you seemingly responded, yet you are primarily active on the French version? Best Regards from the United States - Von Bern

Hello @Von Bern:. It's tough to "find" you as you did not log in to answer, leaving your IP address but not your user name. I'm part of the "welcomers" on the French speaking wikipedia indeed. Maybe, while connected, you went to fr.wp, in which case, it activates your login for the French Wikipedia and a bot picks a user (here, me) to welcome you. I confirm that I mostly edit on fr.wp. J'avoue que certains oublient de mettre le second "z" dans mon nom, ce qui rend la recherche sur mon nom aléatoire.

Par ailleurs Mme Laetitia Krupa m'a écrit 4 jolies pages dans son livre "La tentation du clown" sorti ce printemps, dont j'ai les extraits à votre disposition si besoin.

Je voulais aussi vous demander s'il était possible de mentionner le lien URL www.pcinq.org sous le nom de mon parti P5 ?

Enfin, je voulais savoir si je pourrais avoir une petite page sur moi-même sur Wikipédia, même avec une courte description ? Beaucoup de personnes me signalent qu'ils trouvent bizarre que je ne sois pas sur Wikipédia et me demandent pour quelle raison j'en suis absent ? On pourrait dire que je suis le fondateur de l'OMPE depuis 2013 et que je suis un des premiers à prôner une écologie globale et à proposer des solutions technologiques pour contrer le réchauffement climatique et ré-augmenter le nombre d'animaux sur Terre ?

Qu'en pensez-vous ?
