Bots

[edit]

Have you thought of filtering out bots? At the moment this seems to be largely a bot list, especially at the upper end. WereSpielChequers 12:30, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, perhaps it would be nice filtering bots here, and make a new list in User:Emijrp/List of Wikimedians by number of edits (bots included). Emijrp 12:38, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
If you do you'll find you can't rely on either the bot flag or on there being bot in the name. On EN wiki we have some longstanding editors who started their accounts before the rule about not having bot in their name, and we have a lot of inactive bot accounts that have been deflagged. So the EN wiki filter removes accounts currently flagged as bots, and also accounts listed at en:Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of edits/Unflagged bots. Regards and thanks for doing this. WereSpielChequers 12:55, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I have created User:Emijrp/List of Wikimedians by number of edits/Unflagged bots for this purpose. Emijrp 13:24, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Currently this list includes bots and the list which is supposed to include bots excludes them. Would it be possible to swap them over? WereSpielChequers 13:39, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I manually removed the bots. See here User:Bennylin/List of Wikimedians by number of edits. Whether I'll have time to update it or not is questionable though... But it's interesting to see it sorted by name (BD2412, DerHexer, Ghirlandajo, and Infrogmation each taking 2 spots) or project in that way. Cheers. Bennylin 13:53, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please, add the bots to User:Emijrp/List of Wikimedians by number of edits/Unflagged bots. Emijrp 18:11, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Done. Hope it helps. I just searched for the word "bot" on their names though. Assuming non-bot are not allowed to have "bot" on their names, the list is good. Bennylin 13:24, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
We have a few editors on EN wiki who opened accounts that included "bot" before the bot rule, so I always check before adding accounts to the unflagged bot list. However I don't think that any of them are currently in the 1,000 most edits across all projects. But there could be someone in another project. WereSpielChequers 17:36, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Multi project

[edit]

Currently this only counts edits by editor and project, which is fine for those of us who are >90% one project, but if we are going to call it wikimedians by number of edits it really ought to count all edits across projects for a particular wikimedian, with perhaps the project with their highest edit count in the project column. WereSpielChequers 12:30, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Good idea! Currently, lot of people − including me − are two times in this list. Cdlt, VIGNERON * discut. 12:23, 13 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
This is what I was searching for: a list ranking the cross-project (and specifically cross-language) wikipedians by total amount of edits in every wikiproject, i.e. the figure we find in our global account page. Lele giannoni (talk) 17:50, 10 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

How many to include

[edit]

Currently this stops at 1000. The EN wiki list goes to 4,000 which makes it fairly unwieldy so we have subdivided it with sections. I suggest doing something similar here. WereSpielChequers 12:30, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I will try making 5 sections of 1,000. Emijrp 13:56, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Placeholders

[edit]

There was a display problem with the placeholders, I've fixed it but you might want to fix the code for the future. WereSpielChequers 12:49, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fixed it in the code. Thanks for the feedback. Emijrp 13:23, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Another List

[edit]

I think there should be a list of those from every project who have the most eidts (single wikipedian from every project). --کیسری 08:29, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

EN Wiki

[edit]

Done Today's version has omitted all of us from EN wiki. May we be readmitted please? WereSpielChequers 10:41, 29 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, glad to be back in! WereSpielChequers 12:02, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Question

[edit]

Why the bot changed the list, and removed many users in anothers wikipedias? For example, i'm over 49,000 edits, but my name doesn't appear here. Vitor Mazuco Msg 19:55, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Currently it only counts the thousand highest edit counts, and you need at least 53,121 to be on that list. I suspect that fixing the bug that excluded the EN wiki editors has dropped hundreds of editors out of the list to make room for us from EN wiki. Is there anyone from your wiki on this list? If not and if you do have editors with more edits than the person in 1,000 place then perhaps the bot is in error. WereSpielChequers 12:07, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Somebody has requested me to expand the ranking up to 5000 users. It will be done in the next update (probably tomorrow). Emijrp 13:03, 11 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Any problems?

[edit]
I has checked this data and got users from en.wikipedia.org are excluded. Why? Wagino 20100516 05:05, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disapear

[edit]

Why many users has been disapear? They are inactive? Vitor Mazuco Msg 20:19, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Those people opted out of this list. It doesn't matter anyway if there is shown a placeholder or if they are just left out. -Barras 21:02, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
The placeholders are still there.. Actually all users from en.wiki are left out for some reason. --OosWesThoesBes 19:12, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sometimes the database (usually the English Wikipedia one) is unreachable, and all the users are removed from the ranking becasue there is no info about them. It is fixed when it is updated the next day. Emijrp 13:01, 11 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Bots

[edit]

Bots are not being filtered (example 444 is a BOT in es.wiki). If it's not possible to avoid bots in this list, them is useless to have a separate one for bots. Tanks.--Wikiléptico 16:37, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you spot a bot just add it to User:Emijrp/List of Wikimedians by number of edits/Unflagged bots, usually when bots get on the list it is because a bot has been retired and its bot flag removed. WereSpielChequers (talk) 08:20, 19 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Update

[edit]

Now would be a good time to restart this as one of our editors on EN wiki has now done over a million edits. WereSpielChequers (talk) 08:49, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ghirla

[edit]

Could anybody please sum up my results in English and Russian wikipedia? Why should I occupy two positions in the list?? --Ghirla -трёп- 12:00, 20 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Inactive

[edit]

This page is inactive and nobody ever maintains it. But I want to have the "global" editcounts (the highest we known is 32.5M in wikidata), or the most edit in a wiki (now we have wikidata so the number is higher). Thingofme (talk) 02:17, 27 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

The last time this page was edited was in 2012, when Wikidata hasn't even opened yet. JrandWP (talk) 13:21, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Renamerr in Wikidata has around 56.7 million edits now. JrandWP (talk) 13:35, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
