Postings coming and going concerning NetKnowledge

[edit]

Hi Adrignola :-) - I was just on IRC chatting a little and Moulton pointed out the fact that the post below seemed to keep being removed, probably on the assertion that Moulton is a 'banned user'. I'm also a member of the NetKnowledge site, though haven't really committed much time to it yet, but I'm happy to forward the post below to you under the long standing wiki practice that if a user is willing to take responsibility for a post / communication then it's ok to repost;

Greetings. NetKnowledge is a Social Contract Learning Community. A Member is someone who has reviewed the Community Social Contract and agreed to abide by it. Two sponsoring Members will shepherd you through the orientation cycle. If a Social Contract Governance Model is not your cup of tea, then NK may not be the right Learning Community for you. But if it is what you are looking for, then we welcome your congenial and collegial participation. Moulton 22:36, 28 July 2010 (CDT)

I hope you find it interesting :-) best, Privatemusings 00:28, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

It is interesting. I will keep an eye on it, even if I don't take an active involvement in it. As a side note, the activities here on my talk page, at Wikiversity, and Wikipedia Review make for good entertainment. Why can't you all take a cue from Wikibooks and take it easy and relax and focus on content creation? Not having been around as long, I surely lack perspective, but I can't help but think how much productivity is being lost with all the bickering going on. You could even all work together on b:Wikipedia (shameless plug). Adrignola 02:07, 30 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Should I be honored or annoyed that my talk page is semi-protected? At least I'm not confronted with the dilemma of such a thing occurring on a wiki where I am in an administrative position. If someone is a globally blocked user but was never blocked locally, would I have an implied requirement to block the edits coming from an IP address if that anonymous editor identifies him/herself as the globally blocked user but isn't necessarily disruptive? How could I know for sure that they aren't lying to get attention, if CheckUser evidence has expired or they haven't even edited on the wiki? Hopefully it's a question I never have to answer. noc doesn't lie. This is because if you can modify a filter you can also see it. --Nemo 06:41, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bookshelves/subjects

[edit]

Could you please link to the discussion where bookshelves were deprecated in favour of subjects? Also, if the Chinese Wikibooks community prefers Bookshelf, would it be possible to create a bookshelf namespace? Thanks! Kayau WP WB WN 10:26, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Any namespace can be requested. This is the first discussion where phasing out bookshelves was discussed. Further discussions on actual implementation and on the superseding subject pages were held later and can be found in the reading room archives as well. Adrignola 17:14, 1 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello AA, you should have access to that wiki. Your SUL account should log you in, but in case it's not working, I created an account for adrignola2 and mailed you a password. SJ · talk | translate 05:27, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

The SUL login didn't work but the account you created did. Thanks! – Adrignola talk 13:18, 15 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
