File Uploading
[edit]Hi, Poilisher:
I did this on Ladino Wikipedia; see lad:Vikipedya:Exemption Doctrine Policy. Effectively, what I did was to incorporate the policy as it exists on enwiki, with just a couple of modifications that I would strongly recommend you adopt for yiwiki, too. (I don't think you need to worry about Turkish copyright law, but probably should worry about Israeli.)
I did this mainly to protect some twenty or so files that already existed at ladwiki. I'm certainly not going out of my way to look for any more, though on a couple of occasions, when a file was deleted from Commons (and I noticed it) I replaced it with a local file if I could under free use. I strongly encourage you to minimize use of local files wherever possible, and limit uploads to sysops.
Good luck, and Shabbat Shalom. StevenJ81 (talk) 14:01, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
- @StevenJ81 Thank you. But how do we get this adopted as policy? --פוילישער (talk) 21:48, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- Advertise it on yi:װיקיפּעדיע:קאווע שטיבל for one month. If there are no objections, you can consider it adopted. If there are, you'll need to navigate through them. But remember, when you announce it there, point out that the alternative is that all media files are going to have to be deleted by WMF policy. So if someone decides to object, they'd better have an alternative to suggest. StevenJ81 (talk) 15:36, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
