TemplateScript

[edit]

Hello ערן. I updated your common.js page to the latest version of TemplateScript. This is mainly to enable automatic updates, but it also includes a few fixes. I also fixed your signature not getting updated (you were missing a <pre>). If you notice any problems or have questions, let me know! :) —Pathoschild 04:17, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Inspire Campaign on content curation & review

[edit]

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.

All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Should FuzzyBot remove all potentially outdated translations?

[edit]

Hello, thanks for adding multiple new translations in your language here at Meta-Wiki in recent years. Please join the discussion with your opinion: Should FuzzyBot automatically remove all potentially outdated translations?. Nemo (talk) 12:01, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

Commons Deletion Bot

[edit]

Hello Eran, Thank you for offering to be responsible for Commons Deletion bot on the Hebrew Wikipedia. The bot will be running under User:Community Tech bot. As far as I know there should not actually be much for you to do other than report local problems with the bot if they happen, and there will need to be language localization for the bot. I or someone else from the Community Tech team will be in touch with more information. Keegan (WMF) (talk) 18:40, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Great. Thanks Keegan (WMF). eranroz (talk) 18:42, 2 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Followup: Hi again. If you're still interested in helping out, the bot is ready to go. The translation strings for it are up on translatewiki, once those are done it's ready for whatever community process the Hebrew Wikipedia needs. Keegan (WMF) (talk) 17:53, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Keegan (WMF): Done. thanks! eranroz (talk) 18:14, 10 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Great. A few questions to wrap things up and get the bot going:
  • Does the Hebrew Wikipedia have a formal bot approval process that this needs to go through?
  • Would the community want the bot edits flagged "bot" or not? Different communities have different norms.
  • Would the community want the edits marked "minor" or not?
  • Are there any auto-generated edit summaries the bot may need to use?
Thanks again! Keegan (WMF) (talk) 20:55, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Keegan (WMF):
  • The bot approval process is through a discussion in he:ויקיפדיה:בקשות לדגל בוט. I'm the final approver, but it should go through the process to make sure community is OK with it. We will also use it to discuss whether to give it bot flag (see next point)
  • For notification and deletions bots (such as CommonsDelinker) we usually don't use bot flag so edits will be visible in the recent changes.
  • I don't think there is a preference to either minor or non minor.
  • No need for auto-generated edit summaries. However, the bot should have a user-page describing its purpose.
Thanks, eranroz (talk) 21:53, 13 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
That all sounds reasonable. Last question: is posting the bot request something that we should do or that you should do? Keegan (WMF) (talk) 16:28, 16 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Keegan (WMF), I opened a discussion there. Can you please create a user page for the bot in (User:Community Tech bot)? thanks, eranroz (talk) 10:30, 18 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for opening the discussion. The bot has "visited" hewiki so its global user page is appearing now. Keegan (WMF) (talk) 18:05, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Community Wishlist Survey

[edit]

Hi,

You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.

You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018

[edit]

Greetings,

Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.

Kind regards
On behalf of Wikipedia and Education UG, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 11:44, 10 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Affiliate-selected Board seats process welcomes your support

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because you kindly helped with affiliates-related translations in the past. The movement needs you again! The Nominations phase has started for the ongoing selection process of two Board members, and the timeline is quite tight.

A Translation Central is available to help keen translators like you figure out what's been covered and what's left to do. Over the course of the next few weeks, your attention on candidates' profiles is particularly welcome. While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), you can also add others. If you can't help: please see if you know anyone in your circle who could, and spread the word :)

Thank you! Elitre (WMF) and Facilitators of ASBS 2019, 13:19, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Community Wishlist Survey 2020 needs translations

[edit]

Hello!

I'm contacting you because you've already translated some messages for the Community Wishlist Survey. We need more translations for the 2020 edition, to create a survey that would serve as many users as we know.

The list below shows our needs by order of importance (most important first):

  1. The invitation sent to communities. It summarizes the process. We plan to distribute it soon on this year target wikis. The more translations we have, the better!
  2. The form for non-English speakers. Anyone should be able to add their wish, no matter which language they speak. Translating this short form is very important to encourage diversity and equity.
  3. The survey itself, where the entire process is described.
  4. The preload form, that provides more context on existing wishes.

Some languages are already covered (maybe by you), but some messages have been updated, and there is always some room for reviewing and polishing messages.

Thank you in advance for your help! This survey can't be successful without your assistance. :)

AI legislation

[edit]

Dear ערן,

I contact you since you are marked among the "People who are interested" in Advanced technology page. As you might already know, the EU is working about a regulation of the AI environment, in order to promote its potential and at the same time to protect the citizens from unwanted uses. It is going to be an important moment for achieving the most empowering, safe and clear definition of the rights and duties related to the AI, affecting also Wikimedia's opportunities, not only inside EU. I kindly invite you to participate to the discussion, firstly by commenting the page that is dedicated to it, in order to draft Wikimedia's answers to this legislative initiative of the EU.

The linked page contains the questions from the public consultation by the European Commission on its Artificial Intelligence White Paper.

The EU's survey will remain open until 14 June 2020, but we will take input into account until 31 May 2020.

Thanks, --sNappy(talk) 21:16, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
