Event for the year

I am Issahaku Abdul Razak, a passionate advocate from Ghana's Northern Region with a deep interest in tourism, technology, and research. My adventurous spirit fuels my love for travel, allowing me to engage with diverse cultures and promote meaningful cross-cultural collaboration. Driven by curiosity, I strive to bridge cultural gaps and create opportunities for mutual understanding. I'm committed to open access and the spread of free knowledge, which is why I actively contribute to Wikipedia. I believe that accessible information is key to empowering individuals and fostering global connections. My work in tourism, technology, and research is focused on uncovering new ways to uplift communities and showcase the rich heritage of Ghana, particularly through innovative approaches. Through my involvement in various initiatives, I aim to inspire others to explore the world, embrace new ideas, and collaborate across borders. My mission is to combine my passions with the power of knowledge sharing, driving positive change and building bridges between cultures.

I serve as the team leader and social media manager for the Moore community, one of the fastest-growing Wikipedia communities in Ghana. In this role, I take immense pride in promoting and preserving the Moore language, which is an essential part of my cultural heritage. My dedication to seeing my language recognized on global platforms has been the driving force behind my involvement in Wikipedia and other open-access projects. Leading the Moore community has allowed me to channel my passion for linguistic preservation into actionable initiatives. I oversee a team of like-minded individuals, all working towards a common goal: to ensure that our language and culture are well-represented in the global digital landscape. As social media manager, I have implemented strategies that not only increase awareness of the community’s efforts but also engage a wider audience, both locally and internationally. This has helped amplify the Moore language, making it accessible to a larger demographic while encouraging others to contribute to its digital preservation.

Through my unwavering commitment to this cause, I have been fortunate to receive several prestigious awards, including the Wikipedian of the Year 2023 and accolades from global initiatives like Wiki Loves Folklore. These recognitions are a testament to the hard work and dedication I’ve put into advancing the representation of my language on platforms like Wikipedia. However, these achievements are more than just personal milestones—they reflect the collective efforts of the Moore community and the importance of preserving our cultural and linguistic heritage for future generations. Beyond my role in the Moore community, I believe in the power of collaboration. I've worked closely with other language communities within Ghana and across Africa to share insights and strategies for growing digital content in underrepresented languages. I am passionate about using technology and social media to bridge gaps and create a global space where all languages, regardless of size or geographic location, have an equal voice.

Ultimately, my journey as a team leader and advocate for linguistic preservation is just beginning. I continue to be driven by my vision of a world where every language is not only spoken but celebrated and documented on a global scale. With every contribution I make, I am one step closer to realizing this vision, and I am proud to be part of a movement that values diversity, inclusion, and knowledge for all.
