Juan "Jay" Cano
Engineering Manager, Trust and Safety Product Team, Wikimedia Foundation
About me
Hello, there! I'm Jay Cano, a software engineer and organizational sociologist with more than 15 years of experience in the software industry. During my time in the industry, I've worked in many fields, from AI and Machine Learning to Web Development. I've always been committed to education, open source and open culture, starting as a Linux developer for IBM and more recently, just a few years ago I started my own company, Plotist, with the intention of growing a community of writers around open cultural writing resources and story planning tools. While the Plotist didn't work, I learn a lot about the process of starting and running a company that I took with me to the companies I've worked for in the past few years. As a manager, my mission is to improve the way people work, one company at a time.
My work
I currently work on the Trust and Safety Product team as the engineering manager, helping build tools to keep our communities safe and healthy.
