Indian standard institution has specified specification for high tensile friction grip bolts in IS:3757-1967 ( High tensile fruction grip fastners for structural engineering purposes). The code of practice IS:4000-1967 deals with assembly of structural joints using high tensile friction grip fasteners.
The connections made with high strength friction grip bolts may be subjected to shear, tension in the direction of the axis of bolt combined shear and tension or repeated variation of stresses.
