I am Nethi Sai Kiran, a passionate social worker from India, who is dedicated to promoting linguistic diversity and cultural heritage. My work focuses on contributing to Wikipedia, particularly in Telugu, Gondi, and Kolami languages. Through my efforts,I aim to empower underrepresented language communities by making their languages and cultures more accessible on digital platforms, especially through Wikimedia.

Please describe your Wikimedia experience (such as contributions to the Wikimedia projects, memberships in Wikimedia organizations or affiliates, experience working on conduct issues in your community, activities as a Wikimedia movement organizer, or participation in building Wikimedia policies). I have been actively volunteering in the Wikimedia movement since 2020. My contributions span content creation across Telugu and English Wikipedia, totaling over 14000 edits on various language platforms. Notably, I have played a crucial role in establishing Gondi and Kolami Wikipedia, advocating for the representation of underrepresented Indian languages. Through organising events, I aim to raise awareness about the Free Knowledge Movement and Telugu Wikipedia, while also mentoring communities in Indigenous languages like Gondi and Kolami. Additionally, I have co-founded Ko-Go Wikimedians user group and spearheaded impactful projects on Telugu Wikipedia, demonstrating my commitment to community engagement and empowerment.
Professional Experience, Skills and Education
Please briefly describe 3 situations that show how you worked on, or advised others on, a complex conduct or policy issue. How did you work with others to address the situations? As I embarked on my journey as a volunteer at Telugu Wikimedia, I encountered numerous situations and dilemmas, each offering valuable lessons. Participating in community discussions, I not only shared my insights but also learned from the diverse perspectives of others.

Over time, I delved deeper into Wikimedia policies, eventually taking up the role of Movement Charter Ambassador for Telugu Wikipedia. Through this position, I facilitated crucial conversations and advocated for the community's interests. Additionally, I founded "Tewiki Yuva," a project aimed at empowering young Wikimedians and fostering diversity within our community. My contributions to discussions on Telugu Wikipedia policies reflect my dedication to shaping guidelines that align with our collective values.

Beyond Wikimedia, my professional experience in an Aspirational district in India has allowed me to advocate for policy changes, particularly in improving early education spaces. By initiating policy reforms and submitting proposals to NITI Aayog, I endeavour to create a positive impact on educational opportunities for students on a broader scale.
