About

[edit]

The Afrosounds Project started a campaign to increase contributions of content about African music and sounds across various Wikimedia projects through this campaign tagged "The Afrosounds Edit Contest". This project was birthed out of the identified gap in knowledge, misrepresented facts and bias available on the free encyclopedia and creative commons as it concerns topics around music, sounds and related arts in Africa. We hosted two meet ups and an edit-a-thon in Lagos, Nigeria to intimate participants and volunteer contributors across Africa about our objectives at Afrosounds and how everyone is needed on board to contribute their quota to the general sum of knowledge available for free learning globally.
