Wikipedia links[edit]

Hello Sintegrity, Lucas.Belo, Bukky658,

I see two ways to improve the current display of Wikipedia links.

  1. Only display the Wikipedia link in current page language. We may fallback to English if the language does not exist.
  2. Display all Wikipedia links, in a vertical list with a scrollbar, to facilitate their access.

Both improvements can use easily use Wikidata to get Wikipedia link(s) from the Wikidata ID (Module:Wikidata label#sitelinks may help), but I want to know which solution to use before to work on it.

Hi, Pols12
Thanks for your help.
I think the second solution is the best (scrollbar), because people from all around the world can check it out their wikipedia article even if we don't have the Glossary in their language.
What do you think, @Bukky658 and @Lucas.Belo? Sintegrity (talk) 14:48, 17 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please note we can also keep an horizontal list as it is actually done (that is not my favourite solution, but your choice is mine 🙂). -- Pols12 (talk) 16:51, 19 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I totally agree with your recommendation Sintegrity as long as they can easily view the Wikipedia article in their preferred language options and quickly navigate through the page interface without stress. Bukky658 (talk) 06:27, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Sintegrity, @Bukky658, I have created the module and update the template: the wikipedia parameter is now useless, all links come from Wikidata. Please review the pages, then we may remove that obsolete parameter. -- Pols12 (talk) 21:13, 11 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Good morning, @Pols12. It looks AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much for your support along all this journey. Sintegrity (talk) 10:21, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the late answer (I was at my vacation).Sintegrity (talk) 10:21, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
You’re welcome. I’ve taken some time, but I’m glad it suits. I have removed wikipedia parameter in pages as a result. -- Pols12 (talk) 20:28, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Pols12 how do we add new terms to the Glossary and make them be recognized by the translation tool? Sintegrity (talk) 22:56, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
And may we share our Glossary under CC-BY-SA 4.0? Sintegrity (talk) 23:10, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • As you did in your test, except you should add a translated term parameter which has the same value than term wrapped inside translate tags. The term parameter should not have translate tag. That allows to display both English and translation for the term in the translation page. Once you have added a term, you need to wait a translation admin mark the page for translation so the changes are translatable.
  • Meta-Wiki is fully published under CC-By-SA 3.0. You may use 4.0 if needed, warning the editors with an explicit message in the page, and, better, in an editnotice.
