About this template
[edit]This is the WMF-legal banned user Wikimedia template, used as if a user had been banned by the Wikimedia Foundation from editing all Wikimedia wikis, otherwise known as a global ban. It uses the {{Mbox}}
template, which is a meta-template that is used to build message box templates that are used on several types of pages and changes style depending on what page they are used on.
Usage
[edit]This template is used in user and user talk pages if a user had been globally banned by the Wikimedia Foundation. In user talk pages, the content is replaced with this template.
Office actions
[edit]This template is used to preform office actions. The authorized role account, WMFOffice, has staff rights and can replace the content of a globally banned user's talk page with this template. However, if their user talk page never existed, then the account would create their page with this template. The same thing would apply to the globally banned user's user page if it never existed before WMFOffice created it. However, if the globally banned user's user page did exist, then the content would be replaced with this template. In addition, the account would add a user to the page WMF Global Ban Policy/List. These edits are done by using a script which is a subpage of the account's user page. Any questions for WMFOffice should be directed to cawikimedia
org.
What is a global ban?
[edit]A Foundation global ban is an office action the Foundation may take, pursuant to our Terms of Use, in order to address multi-project misconduct, to help ensure the safety of the editing and reading communities of all Wikimedia sites, the public, or to assist in preventing prohibited disruptive behavior that interferes with contributions and dialogue. A global ban is applied to individuals representing themselves or others and is an extraordinary action that only supplements, without replacing, the community global ban process. A list of all users who have been globally banned can be found at List of globally banned users.
