www.wikibooks.org template is the raw, live HTML source code of a Wikimedia project portal. Changes made there are seen by millions of people within an hour – sooner to anyone who clears their browser's cache. (Note, some portals use the deployment schedule and there will be a delay until release.) Do not edit this code unless you know what you're doing, and do not edit it by hand – intelligent Scribunto modules are ready to assist you. You can experiment with the template in the sandbox. To change language names, romanizations, etc., edit Module:Project portal/wikis. Then get the attention of a Meta administrator who can deploy your changes: place an {{Edit Protected}} notice at Talk:www.wikibooks.org template or Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat.

Administrators: Always follow the instructions on the edit page of www.wikibooks.org template to a tee.

Updates to this portal are no longer managed via this page. Changes are now managed via Phabricator and gerrit.

Kazakh Wikibooks

[edit]

@MarcoAurelio and Hasley: I fixed the error that had been showing up on this page about the Kazakh Wikibooks. The error message wasn't particularly clear, but it just wanted the two things that show up on the portal for each of the top ten wikis: the slogan and the word for "books". Unfortunately, Kazakh's three scripts (Cyrillic, Latin, and Arabic) concatenated together results in extra long messages that break the top 10 ring layout. I've worked around the issue by putting the Arabic transcription on a separate line and shortening the slogan to mean just "Textbooks" instead of "Textbooks and books". I also removed the Arabic slogan and word for "pages" to fit in the allotted space. You can use the "Preview HTML" gadget to compare this staged version with the current live version. Ideally, the portal would detect the user's language and offer just the most relevant script, but that would be a much larger undertaking. Minh Nguyễn 💬 01:19, 4 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
