Paper cards

[edit]

Hi! The contest description keeps promising that paper cards will be sent out eventually. This is the third case, and our participants have not received paper cards for the past two events, either. We collected physical addresses of participants and nobody received anything. Xia (talk) 09:39, 10 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Agree the point, or the rules have to be modified. --Alankang (talk) 05:49, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

May I get an answer, please? Are you planning on sending out the past postcards too? Or maybe this should be taken out of the competition. Xia (talk) 19:53, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

No that will provide soon Nidhi Gossai (talk) 19:00, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I also didn't receive physical nor digital postcards for 2020. --Onwa (talk) 13:56, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Language

[edit]

Are the articles supposed to be written in English or another language?

New User

[edit]

Hello, I recently registered and because of that, I am not autoconfirmed so I can only create drafts and submit them for review. I want to participate in this competition but I don't think my articles will be reviewed in time. What can I do?

I want to participate in this competition but i don't know where to write and how to post

Thai Wikipedia

[edit]

Hello, refer to this discussion on Thai wikipedia. It seems that:

  1. The article submission tool looks like it takes a very long time to load.
  2. The word count tool is currently unable to respond to the word count in Thai as in previous years.

Can you repair the tool? --B20180 (talk) 18:37, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

WAM Main page needs to be in multiple languages

[edit]

Hi, I am translating WAM pages, and wish to see two points answered. Through the banner on for example on jawiki, users are guided to WAM landing page, which is in en only. Can we make it more reader/user friendly, or supportive for local organizers of a very borderless initiative? My dream would be that more i18n idea will enrich WAM project at large starting right now, as we rather come short in welcoming language communities where localized project pages are sought after with great enthusiasm. Gaining and expanding article counts for smaller Wikipedias would be encouraged with WAM IMHO, as we can hone/focus editing passion where interlanguage support could happen (:

(1) Rules page: if a global user is eligible as a participant. Could we clarify that in or around this sentence please? It sounds as if even you are a global WM user, you are required to open your (additional or +1) account away form your home wiki. Do we mean that perhaps?

(2) When will the WAM landing page be pushed for translation? Surely, we won't enroll participants for WAM2021, tho, we place banners to attract readership to those to-be awarded new articles, are we not?

Lastly, but not least, while I don't register with 2021 WAM, I have and will continue help 2021 WAM articles : trilled to add citations or details as participants rather rush to gain more page counts.

Thank you International Organizer Team for your very committed work, and ping me if you need translation. Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 11:30, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

fountain tool is down

[edit]

If you click on the "submit your contributions", it is giving out 500 error. https://fountain.toolforge.org/editathons/asian-month-2021-en I tried it on en wikipedia, and mr wikipedia as well. —usernamekiran(talk) 10:55, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

article requirement

[edit]

Hello. When I tried to submit one of my (mr wikipedia) articles on fountain tool, it showed me the article statistics before final submission. My article was "11,928 bytes, 235 words", and yet it had a green tickmark next to it. So I am confused, is the article eligible or not as it it below 300 words? Kindly ping me if you reply. —usernamekiran(talk) 19:12, 28 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Fountain tool problem

[edit]

Currently, I can't submit simple:Four Beauties to the fountain for this contest. The reason always appears as "only 202 words", while this is actually not so! Please check it! I want to submit this article! Haoreima (talk) 17:51, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Postcards?

[edit]

What happens with the postcards? It is 15 January 2022... --NGC 54 (talk / contribs) 00:59, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Li-Yun Lin and AddisWang: could you please look this? participants also asked me about this. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 09:34, 16 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Not all the juries finish grading yet. Will send out the form for the qualified participants in the beginning of Feb.
Best Li-Yun Lin (talk) 10:46, 19 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Li-Yun Lin, AddisWang, and KOKUYO: We have few users who achieved the goal on writing more than 4 new articles, so they should have received a postcard. I gave all these data to the organizers at that time, but I don't know what happened with the postcards on the last two years (2020 and 2021). We from WikiDonne - the organizer in Italian Wikipedia - never received any postcard for none of our participant. And people is disappointed. For this reason, plus another discussion of Asia project (which considers to be more specific and have "more rights" in organizing this contest), WikiDonne decided to organize only our additional/local content related to Women from Asia and give ourselvs the gadget. We don't need any postcards anymore. Best. --Camelia (talk) 16:06, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Camelia.boban, Due to the pandemic all the postal systems are a mess. Last November (2021), some Australian Wikipedians inform our team that they received the postcard of WAM 2019 and they were sent out in 2020 March according to the stamps. This kind of nightmare is the reason why WAM started providing digital postcards, we cannot ask all the postal systems to act as good as before pandemic. I know participants feel frustrated and some organizers decided not to keep participating and we respect your decisions.Li-Yun Lin (talk) 08:29, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Li-Yun Lin: When are the digital postcards being sent though? John Smith (W1F0X) (talk) 17:49, 20 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Li-Yun Lin and AddisWang: Hi, the same problem that has been commented above occurs with Spanish Wikipedia, a participant asked me about the postcard. --Rodelar (talk) 10:12, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Li-Yun Lin: When are the digital postcards being sent though? I didn't get any link to give email address or something --M. Abhilash 14:05, 2 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

@つがる and Camouflaged Mirage: Hello juries! Do you guys have any idea about the provisions of postcards & certificates of the event of the year 2021? It's 11th of May of the next year after the event. If there's problem with the physical mailing, then digital format of postcards & certificates are also ok. @Li-Yun Lin, AddisWang, and KOKUYO: User:NGC 54, User:ZI Jony, Camelia, User:W1F0X, Rodelar, User: MYADAM ABHILASH, Xia, Alankang, Nidhi Gossai, Onwa Guys! I am just reminding you all too about the issue! --Haoreima (talk) 18:19, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I know @Haoreima: and I'm sorry, we had the issue too. Due to the misorganization of this contest on the last years - and the pandemic has nothing to do with - WikiDonne decided, on its local contest in Italian Wikipedia, to focus only on Asian women and give the gadgets from our side, without expecting anything from the side of the main organizers. --Camelia (talk) 18:25, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Camelia Very sad! A few minutes ago, I sent an email to the organising team and they replied telling me to read the rules in the meta page. Idk what should we do! --Haoreima (talk) 18:29, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Actually for the postcards/certificates, I am unsure if there will be any at all. I didn't get any notification or messages about how to sign up for the postcard or how to get the certificate.. However I know for last year it took almost a year for me to receive the postcard and the certificate. (However last year there was a signup form, this year seems to be none...) I am sorry for the inconvenience.... That being said, I will keep looking into this on how to get the post card/certificate. つがる (talk) 19:40, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Haoreima: See above --つがる (talk) 19:41, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • It is November 2022, and I still haven't received any postcard/communication (email/postal) for 2021's event. Not sure where to ask after reading this thread. —usernamekiran (talk) 15:39, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
User:usernamekiran Me too! --Haoreima (talk) 16:16, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
I haven't been sent the 2020 and 2021 postcards neither. Onwa (talk) 13:53, 5 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • It is December 2022 and the WAM 2022 is also over yet I am yet to receive either the Digital or the physical Postcards of WAM 2021. When I mail they replied telling me to read the rules in the meta page. No organizer is even giving any update. These postcards are one of the biggest motivators for all of us to participate in the WAM contest. -SabyaC (talk) 16:29, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
An its August 2023! Believe Me, Is there Anyone from their Team Who Comes Forward and Distributes the Respective Postcards . . ?? They Didn't & even won't !!! If that is the only way for them to keep Ignoring their Participants then It Literally seems like the WAM Contest would Permanently gonna Shut Down one Day . . Like You n Me, There are as many as hundreds and thousands of Motivated Participants Who are just Well Wishing to Receive their Postcards one Day . . And We Really Hope so, That they Get it! Saad U. Bhatti (talk) 11:53, 5 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I entered the address for postcard shipment incorrectly, what can I do?

[edit]

Hello, I've submitted the form for postcard shipment but I just realised that I incorrectly filled the address section. I accidentally included an address that I may no longer live. What can I do? --Chainwit. (talk) 19:42, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Support Team

[edit]

I would like to join the support team and help with the logistics for 2022 (and 2021 if it's still needed). Is there a formal process to get involved? Amiaheroyet (talk) 07:19, 14 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
