Activity divisions
[edit]I don't think that the division between the different activities that's currently being used is particularly useful. E.g. the Cancer Research UK Wikipedia workshop that WMUK ran falls under all of 'Partnerships', 'Wiki Content Enrichment', 'Attracting & helping new users' and 'Events hosted or co-organized'. Is there a reason for these specific divisions, and is there a better split that could be applied? Mike Peel 00:30, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hey Mike, thanks for your comment. There is indeed a great deal of overlap between project that already satisfy more than one objective at the same time. Many events will eventually lead to attracting new users, and partnerships eventually lead to enriching wiki contect..etc. If you have suggestion of a categorization that you find more convenient then lets try it, please. :) --Melamrawy (WMF) 11:29, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- I've not replied sooner because I'm not sure what the best way of splitting up the objectives of the events is. There's several possibilities. One would be a simple internal/external division (aimed at current Wikimedians, or hopefully-future ones). Another would be splitting them up into GLAM/Education/Community/Technology/etc. A third would to be not split them at all. A fourth approach might be to apply the same classifications to the WMF and see how well they work, and then adapt them to suit. Hopefully others can also comment on this and find the best way to summarise the Wikimedia organisation activities... Mike Peel 20:29, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
