Updates?
[edit]Hello, this statement on your project page looks promising: "At the conference in Innsbruck, the following further steps were jointly decided, which are currently being worked on." Any updates on this? EMsmile (talk) 16:04, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- We meet regulary online and discuss various topics. We are an open network of science communicators, so participation is wellcome. You can reach out to the orga-team via wikipedia@uibk.ac.at RomanVilgut(UniversityGraz) (talk) 08:12, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- That's great. I did participate in the last half hour of the last online meeting. My question was more on: is there anything to look at yet or to read (apart from the presentation slides by Leonhard)? Under "Steps", is the second and third bullet point maybe available as a draft yet? - What interests me the most is the discussions around conflict of interest editing and Leonhard's suggestion/question of "(to what degree) is science communication PR?". For me that is a very pertinent issue. EMsmile (talk) 13:45, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- The Positionpaper is nearly finished and will be published soon. But it does not touch the topic COI. We discussed this a lot back in April and my personal conclusion is: Science Communicators and Wikipedians have differnt views on this. My take on it: Of course, Science Communication can be PR and sometimes has to be PR. But it still is PR for Science, Scientists, Breakthrougs in Science, and since Wikipedia is all about science, there is rather a concurrence of interests then a conflict of interest RomanVilgut(UniversityGraz) (talk) 13:56, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, this is really interesting for me! This network has great potential and I look forward to participating in it. I've now added it to my user profile page as well. :-) EMsmile (talk) 08:53, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
