Allow for Telepresence?

[edit]

Six years ago, a national association of which I was an executive member amended its constitution to allow people who were not all physically present in one place to constitute a quorum for a meeting. (In those days it was primarily phone teleconferencing). The other change was to remove the requirement for a physically signed register of members in favour of a database.

So surely it should be possible for a society formed entirely for internet purposes to conduct its general and committee meetings via internet. Arguments of technological barriers are not valid, because it is still easier for a member in Invercargill whose computer does not support any required technology to travel to the home of another member than to travel to a physical meeting in Auckland. Your right on all accounts. I was intending for the Membership to be on database (far easier that way) , and yes I was also ntending for The Committee meetings to be done by 'Telepresence' I just need to think of the wording to use. :).
However I was thinking that AGM's should be done by been physically present, what do you think?
