Resolution Board of Trustees - Universal Code of Conduct - Link missing to Policy on Foundation wiki

Dear madam, sir, on the Foundation wiki with announcement of the Board Resolution to approve and adapt the Universal Code of Conduct, under "references" a link is given to an editable mirror-version of the Code on meta (see announcement). That is good for people willing to engage in discours and further development of the policy. For people with wishes or needs in the field of enforcement, it would be good to also provide a link to the enforceable content on the Foundation wiki. So as a user how would we incorporate such requirements if it really don't explain or direct us how to do it. Most people live busy lives so reading 20 hrs on how tos is really almost next to impossible any suggestions on how to handle these situations or what the reader/ user should do to make sure they meet necessary requirements and implements.

2007 annual report link is broken

Meta question about the WP site - Version Control

Is the WordPress blog backed by version control (much like a wiki)? It's possible, just that it's optional, by an official plugin. Galzigler (talk) 20:49, 2 July 2021 (UTC)

There is an element of version control both in content and in the code repository - yes. However, the content version control has I think only been useful 1-2 times (still - nice to have when those rare moments arise). About the Chinese translation of wikimediafoundation.org

The Chinese translation of wikimediafoundation.org contains a few problems:

1. The article summary under the 新聞 (News) title is too long. It should be shortened.
2. I would like to emphasize that Chinese has multiple variants, including Simplified Chinese (zh-hans) and Traditional Chinese (zh-hant). The "Chinese" version of WMF website is actually in Traditional Chinese, but it's placed under https://wikimediafoundation.org/zh/, which is not very appropriate I think... Consider moving it to https://wikimediafoundation.org/zh-hant/?
3. The Chinese language label on the top right corner ("中文 (繁体中文)") is incorrect. It should be "中文（繁體）" (or "中文 (繁體)" if you prefer half-width parentheses).

Also, another question: Can I help create a Simplified Chinese version of site? If I can, how can I offer help?

We are looking into overall quality assurance for translations and are aware of the multiple variants for this and a few other languages in consideration for the future. Missing Wikimedia Incubator?

Incubator was previously listed as one of "our projects", but is no longer listed on the "Wikimedia Projects" page. Is that an oversight an intentional demotion?

It was not an intentional demotion so much as it was an effort to highlight the projects which had been chosen for highlighting on homepage of previous website (utilizing this template still in use on Foundation Governance Wiki). At the time, when this came up, the general sentiment was that we wanted to allow projects to incubate within the movement before being promoted to external audiences (who are more the audience of Foundation website than say Meta-Wiki). That stemmed in part from discussions around 2008 that resulted the community initiating a shift in what projects were actively promoted on homepage of Foundation website (at that time, Foundation Wiki). You can roughly see when that change happened in the template's edit history.

However, to be blunt, this is first time it has come up since non-wiki version of this website launched. I do not think anyone would be opposed to discussing it again, but I think the question would remain is it seen as a project we want to actively promote with external audiences vs. one we want to direct existing community members to for supporting and incubating language editions. There are a handful of other wikis which are "projects" but not necessarily ones we promote with external audiences - Wikitech and WCS as other examples. I would not say this is a demotion of status outcome so much as a reality of not wanting to overwhelm external audiences with information they are unlikely to applicably need. But again, I would not see that logic as "written in stone" so much as "what compelled what has gotten to this point" - and as always - might be worth another look.
