Add topicLinks to translation of election status pages don't work
[edit]The links to translation of election status pages don't work. Byrial (talk) 10:30, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Good catch, thanks - I've updated the link so it should work correctly now. Thehelpfulone 10:49, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Banner link and language selection
[edit](not sure where to post this)
The CentralNotice banner links to Special:MyLanguage/2013_WMF_elections ; but since 2013_WMF_elections is a redirect to Wikimedia Foundation elections 2013, the language switching does not work.
Could anyone fix the banner link ?
Thanks, Jean-Fred (talk) 13:43, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, fixed. Thehelpfulone 21:07, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Banner
[edit]Where is the banner text translation ? The French has a glaring neologism in it (« En savoir plus et candidater. »). Urhixidur (talk) 18:54, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- <https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=Centralnotice-tgroup-Election2013_submission&language=fr&filter=&action=translate>. Please post on here once you've made the fix and I'll re-publish it. Thehelpfulone 21:11, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oops, yes of course (sorry, it was my mistake). I fixed it. Jean-Fred (talk) 21:59, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, re-published. Thehelpfulone 22:26, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Next question: Why aren't these messages on translatewiki.net instead of meta.wikimedia.org? Urhixidur (talk) 18:31, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
- Translate Wiki is used to translate the MediaWiki interface, Meta-Wiki is used for the translation of most meta things, including these elections, steward elections, the Terms of Use etc. Thehelpfulone 11:11, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
Directions
[edit]I couldn't get if there are some "needed" translations directions links here. In TranslateWiki, I used to notice some; it was quite ago, though, I haven't visited it for quite long... JLincoln (talk) 17:58, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
Arrivé ici sans confirmation / Is it an error ?
[edit]Bonjour,
Je suis arrivé ici parce que j'ai cliqué sur "aide à la traduction" juste en-dessous de "conseil d'administration".
Je peux traduire plusieurs articles vers le français.
Cela fait plusieurs mois que je me suis proposé de la faire, mais personne n'a validé ni aidé informatiquement - par exemple je ne sais pas créer un lien langue dans la marge, je sais juste traduire et corriger en français correct. Magnon86 (talk) 06:20, 12 May 2013 (UTC)magnon86
Hi, I came here maybe by mistake - I've clicked on "aide à la traduction" (help for translation in French) just under "... Committee".
I can translate articles in French - and correct approximative translations into correct French. Many articles in foreign languages have not their "cousin" in French (example Lisette Pagler, famous since the series 'Hu Bots' / 'Real Humans' / 'Äkta människor')
This has been several months i proposed to translate, but nobody gave me a computer help - i can only translate, i cannot create links in the left margin. Magnon86 (talk) 06:20, 12 May 2013 (UTC)magnon86
Problems translating
[edit]I tried couple of times to translate into Estonian language, but if I clicked the link "Help translate the election" in pink banner with text, which begins "Voting has not begun. Votes will not be accepted.", then there is a message: "Translations to this language in this group have been disabled. Reason: English is the source language." I do not find a page, where I can translate. Taivo (talk) 16:43, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hi - apologies that you're encountering this problem. There's a link in the top right that should allow you to choose which language you would like to Translate to, but for your convenience, you can also click here for a translate link. Thehelpfulone 16:48, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
More pages to translate and malfunction
[edit]Hi. I'd like to translate in italian both FDC committee and ombudsman candidates statments. What am I supposed to do to start the page?
Secondary, the must be some kind of malfunction in the translation tool because I can't translate Mr. Kavashvili's statement: after his data the tool gives me directly Yuyu personal data. Could someone look whic kind of problem it can be? Thanks in advance. --Cotton (talk) 11:57, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- The answer to the second question is because that particular statement have not been marked for translation yet due to it initially being over the limit and awaiting confirmation that he is okay with the trimmed version. -- KTC (talk) 12:03, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- For the records I'm ok with the translation in Italian or any other language of my statement. -- CristianCantoro (talk) 17:37, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- Translating Mr. Kavashvili's statement is still not possible. Please solve the problem because this situation is not correct for him, givin'him less chances to be understood and, obviously, voted. Thanks --Cotton (talk) 18:09, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you, I've now marked his statement for translation (I was waiting for his identification to come through), please let me know if you have any problems translating Francis' statement. Thehelpfulone 16:15, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, done. Thank you. When do you think it will be possible to translate even FDC & ombudsman candidates' statements? --Cotton (talk) 20:38, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Translation update
[edit]I know the banner ends this midnight, but anyway, could somebody update MediaWiki:Centralnotice-Election2013 submission-readmore-text/cs with the proper text instead of the terrible message it contains currently? Thanks. --Mormegil (cs) 14:12, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay, I just fixed this now. It may be useful for future elections though, so thanks for letting us know. Thehelpfulone 13:53, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
Gender bias ;)
[edit]Hi, on the election pages (Board and FDC), the word "Wikimedian" in Wikimedian since: has been translated into the masculine form in several languages (French, Italian and German at least). It so happens that I am not a Wikimédien, but a Wikimédienne (Wikimedianerin etc.) :-). Where can we change this to at least reflect both genders? Thanks. notafish }<';> 23:22, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for spotting that! Links for French, German, Italian and Spanish. For any other ones feel free to change the language by selecting as appropriate from "Translate to" in the top right of the page. Thehelpfulone 23:27, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Done for fr, de and it. Spanish seems to be gender neutral. :) notafish }<';> 10:50, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Translating this translation page
[edit]Can someone configure this page (/Translation) for translation. John Vandenberg (talk) 14:33, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- The ever user:Thehelpfulone did this. I've set up the Russian and Indonesian translations. John Vandenberg (talk) 04:32, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
Sitenotice banner in Modern Greek
[edit]The translation of the sitenotice banner Οι ψήφοι γίνονται πλέον αποδεκτές στις εκλογές για το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο και την Επιτροπή Διάδοσης Χρημάτων is wrong. It should have been H ψηφοφορία έχει πλέον ξεκινήσει για το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο και την Επιτροπή Κατανομής Πόρων. Could anyone change it ? --Γλαύκος (talk) 18:09, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

[edit]On the voting page, the candidates are identified as User xyz. In the Yiddish (yi) version the word User is not translated correctly.
Where do I effect the translation?
