[edit]

Thanks for publishing this, it's a big improvement for the process itself to be known. Two months for review of the plan, as opposed to zero days, should also be much better. Of course I would be curious to know this "Board Guidance Document", especially as it's probably rather concise and less verbose than all the mountain which is going to be built on it, but oh well. --Nemo 21:18, 23 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I see ... it's a "message" from the ED. I'd not have bothered fixing some typog. things there had I known. No change in meaning, though. Tony (talk) 13:06, 15 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

2019-20

[edit]

What does 'undisclosed' mean here? Will there be a mid-year review? –SJ talk  09:58, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Mid-year review would have been months ago, no? Wikimedia Foundation board meetings have now been held for more than one year without even a public agenda, so it's hard to tell, but usually the annual plan is approved in June.
Probably the board has already secretly approved next year's annual plan. It's anyone's guess whether we'll ever get to know what it contains. Meanwhile I hear wild speculations about this or that OKR supposedly having been approved, and nobody seems to know where the documents seemingly containing the plans for next year even reside. @SJ: 'Undisclosed' means that all we know of the 2019-20 annual plan is the 'summary', meaning these slides and budget figures. Instead of a mid-year review, there are the slides from the so-called 'tuning sessions'. --Gnom (talk) 12:27, 2 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Elitre (WMF): Could you please help provide some clarity about this? The current phrasing (that the 2019-2020 plan is "undisclosed") suggests there is an annual plan but it has not been made public. That sounds a little bleak, but is it wrong? Thanks in advance. --ATDT (talk) 19:42, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
ATDT: the Annual Plan page for last year is what you see at Wikimedia_Foundation_Medium-term_plan_2019/Annual_Plan_2019-2020. The phrasing due to this edit, FWIW. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 09:41, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Elitre (WMF): Please correct me if I am wrong, but there surely is a more detailed but undisclosed plan for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. --Gnom (talk) 09:57, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
I am not part of the AP team, but I don't think so. As a reminder we delivered the MTP last year. That's where the focus went. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 14:10, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Elitre (WMF): Looking at the 2018-19 plan, especially at the so-called detailed program plans for 2018-19 (example), I wonder where the planning documents at this level of detail are for the current period. I cannot find them in the multi-year plan, either. Hence the asssumption of an 'undisclosed' plan. --Gnom (talk) 14:32, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Elitre (WMF): Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. @Gnom: I don't think that's a good-faith assumption, and I don't think "undisclosed" is reasonable to use here, because it carries connotations of concealment. This page isn't the place for grinding axes about the planning process. --ATDT (talk) 15:11, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry. There must be another document that's not published, because the second slide of the published plan mentions '18 deliverables' and the 'Tuning Sessions' contain progress reports on goals that aren't stated anywhere. --Gnom (talk) 21:29, 21 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Annual plan schedule

[edit]

Hello. What are some of the key dates of the annual plan, such as release of draft, voting, etc? Also, what opportunities does the community have to either observe or participate in the process? Please ping on reply. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 19:36, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
