Who?

[edit]

@GVarnum-WMF: This page mentions "group of contacts from each Wikimedia Foundation department", but doesn't mention who those people are. The only individuals mentioned on this page are you and User:Heather (WMF). Would you be able to add the names of the other individuals from each department who are involved in this WMF documentation effort? --Yair rand (talk) 04:36, 18 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

The group's membership changes based on the activities of any given department. As the facilitator of the group, I am the primary contact and best person to direct any inquiries to. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 00:08, 19 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@GVarnum-WMF: Look, I'm really happy that this group exists. Promoting documenting WMF things on-wiki is very important, and it looks like people are taking this seriously: weekly/monthly meetings, individuals from every department, liasing with the community on documenting WMF activities. Wonderful. But, well... It really doesn't speak well of the group's ability to provide on-wiki documentation if it finds itself unable to even document its own membership on-wiki. It's not a good sign for the WMF's commitment to transparency that the working group responsible for ensuring it runs as a group with a secret membership with all communications going through one person. --Yair rand (talk) 04:06, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Yair rand: Thank you for the feedback. The group is not actively meeting right now, but I will bring this up with them when meetings resume. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 17:10, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@GVarnum-WMF: Thanks. Would you be able to post when that might be? The page itself should probably hold that information. --Yair rand (talk) 06:13, 23 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Yair rand: I do not have an exact timeline. We are discussing it and a number of related topics. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 17:16, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@GVarnum-WMF: It's been four months. Have meetings resumed? Is there any more information you can share? --Yair rand (talk) 18:18, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Yair rand: No additional information to share at this time. I will post more information when the group's meetings resume. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 17:23, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

"in final months of 2020"

[edit]

@GVarnum-WMF: Hi, the page currently has a banner which says "Page will be updated as group reconvenes in final months of 2020." Does/did this happen? (For the records, I ended up on this page by following a link in phab:T200811 which might be a cookie-licked task.) Thanks, --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 17:41, 9 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@GVarnum-WMF: ^ Ping? --Yair rand (talk) 03:09, 12 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Yair rand and AKlapper (WMF): The group did reconvene late last year and we will be updating this page. Apologies if the note left a false impression that the updates would also be happening in late 2020. --Gregory Varnum (Wikimedia Foundation) [he/him] (talk) 21:09, 12 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
