Hmm. After 15 years, I apparently still remain level 1, though I occasionally jump to level 5 without hitting any in between. - Jmabel (talk) 13:08, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Jmabel: Thank you for your comment!
- First of all, to be clear and to avoid misunderstandings: Be aware that it are levels of recognisability. So it is perfectly possible you do not reach beyond level 1, and still are a valuable contributor to Wikipedia. Also for example if someone does not want to meet others, or is less mobile to do so.
- Also there are exceptions possible, because our movement is diverse and everyone is unique in their own way. But the levels are in general common factors that an be noticed.
- And we as mascots we are part of the movement, but not included either (the manual speaks about humanoid lifeforms) and we do not reach levels ourselves.
- Besides the first level (where always is in place, but not always noticed by others (-> training can be needed)), the levels do not contain "always". So for example with level 2, if someone forgets to bring his/her laptop/smartphone, that likely is already a large enough trauma and should not be enlarged by dropping in level(s). Once someone reached a level, that person remains there at that level as mankind was not born with laptop/smartphone, stroopwafels, clothing, nor wiki account, so nobody can always at any time comply with all levels. For example if someone goes swimming, level 2 and 3 are not recommended to be practised.
- And regarding level 2, in line with the described diversity, and in line with the spirit of the levels of recognition, having the feeling/behaviour to always have the need to have a computer close to you somewhere, perhaps even actively searching for them, like computers in buildings, smartphones of other people, etc, can also be used as level 2 of being recognisable.
- Regarding level 3, we are aware that stroopwafels are not available everywhere in the world. Therefore we ask with many conferences some dealers to bring them (and participants to distribute them further to their home communities). This fulfils most needs, but this is of course limited and only a short time effect, because once you are addicted to it you want more. In some areas of the world the need for stroopwafels is very high and this has already resulted, thanks to the great taste and the law of supply and demand, that stroopwafel shops open up their doors in various places in the world, including in San Francisco not far away from the office of the Wikimedia Foundation. - As the Wikimedia Cuteness Association is much aware of the high demand in the movement (also as it is good for our soft skins), we have lobbied for the founding of the Wikimedia Stroopwafel Distribution Association, but sadly this depends on the decision of the Stroopwafel Dissemination Committee, but does not exist yet. But if you are in need, we may be able to ask one of the associations in the movement to send you a package.
- Regarding level 4, this we already solved with the Merchandise giveaways. If other users see you are in need, they will help you by nominating you for a free t-shirt.
- Regarding level 5 and 6, we hope you can solve these yourself easily. Wendy the Weasel (talk) 01:51, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
