[edit]Wondering if people are still active? What has been achieved?--Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:01, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
Wow
[edit]I am actually pretty shocked to see people listing their full home addresses on this page. Do you not have some sort of mailing list amongst yourselves? Who exactly is on the "steering committee" now? Are there really fewer than a dozen Wikimedians in all of Canada interested in having a chapter? What are its aims and goals? - We do have a mailing list among ourselves sort of. These are the aims [1] Yes only a few dozen of us at this point. The addresses will be made public during incorporation so I do not see this a big issue. We believe in transparency. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:47, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- There's a big, big difference between having an address on a document that (generally speaking) is not widely available to everyone, and publishing it on this project. I urge you to consider being more cautious or, alternately, to all get post office boxes. Stalkers are not a figment of the imagination, and I am personally aware of at least three Canadian Wikimedians who have been on the receiving end of significant harassment. I see fewer than a dozen names on the list on the content page. I'm quite uncomfortable with the idea of a national chapter with only a few dozen members in such a physically huge country; the fact that I'm possibly one of the most "involved" Canadian editors and didn't know there was serious discussion of incorporation of a chapter tells me that there's a pretty significant communication gap. Well, keep me informed and let me know when and where there will be a meeting, and I'll try to attend, although I'm having a hard time seeing how a proper meeting can be held when the members are coast to coast. - Yes I am well aware of the above having dealt with this sort of issue. The meeting will take place via skype. Once we are incorporated we will than begin a membership drive to get more people involved. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 08:03, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
