Clarification please

[edit]

Hi, the Wikimania Core Organising Team have been reviewing your scholarship application can you please provide addition information to clarify these items

  1. Operational costs for programme organisation and promotion/media = $200 -- what is this exactly?
  2. Meetup spaces during Wikimania activities = $200 x 2 = $400 -- how long is this activity being planned for, is it two days, or two locations, and will it coincide with the Wikimania schedule? The post event plan includes a cost for internet, why are they different?

Look forward to working with you in clarifying this application, for The Wikimania COT Gnangarra (talk) 11:56, 1 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Thanks @Gnangarra:,
    1. the $200 includes cost for media promotion, banner, and flyers and also management of distributing the funds.
    2. The meetup space is for two days; yes it will coincide with Wikimania.
    3. In the post-event, we're not distributing data to participant and the cost is low since there's no video call.
    4. Also can you respond to our email and the message below? We would like to make sure about that before updating the page. – Ammarpad (talk) 04:51, 4 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi, Gnangarra, We have sent an email to the community events team to notify them about the planned to hold this event in two different locations (Kaduna and Katsina) since it's now required to contact them for budget exceeding 2000$. And the operational costs, this is the expense for transfer charges to distributes resources to the participants and promotion like wikimania banner etc. M-Mustapha (talk) 22:08, 3 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your application says, 30-40 participants will receive data packages to support their participation at Wikimania but your budget is for 80 people plus 2 days of meetups in 2 locations, plus you have hardware support. The Core organising team has reviewed the application these figures are concerning and confusing. IF you are providing a space to view Wikimania live there shouldnt be the need for a lot of data packs. With meet ups taking place there doesnt appear to be a need for hardware support as well. Could you please review your application make adjusts and provide more details. Gnangarra (talk) 11:53, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Gnangarra: We have updated the details to match and revised the plans. The data packs cost is because the amount for space rent is not enough to rent a space equipped with enough data bandwidth for the program. We have also reduced the data packs to 30 per each location (maximum 60 in total), and revised the per unit cost. There's no hardware support for the post Wikimania meetups; they're for the Wikimania event small hardwares (webcams, head/earphones) to enable seamless participation. – Ammarpad (talk) 04:46, 17 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
