@Pbsouthwood: do you have a rough timeframe in mind for 2018? I'm asking because I'm facilitating the bidding process for the Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2018 and we usually try to leave enough space between Wikimania and the CEE Meeting. Best, Braveheart (talk) 16:47, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Braveheart:, I don't know yet. You may have better luck with Discott or EYoung (WMF). Cheers, · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk):
@Braveheart: I assume you are asking when in 2018 we are likely to have Wikimania 2018 in Cape Town? The answer to that is some time in July/August 2018. I would like to have it in August instead of July but it depends on the venue we select and what their options are. We will be confirming the venue in the next few weeks which should give us a better idea. Hope that helps.--Discott (talk) 06:53, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks for the information :-) I'm not quite sure why July and August are preferable, since that's the main travel time in Europe and it makes flights extremely expensive, as Montreal has proven this year. Braveheart (talk) 08:01, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Braveheart:, I think the date range is imposed by WMF. Ellie may be able to clarify. Cheers, · · · Peter (Southwood) (talk): 08:15, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
