Hmm, post some torrents afterwards, no need for big pipes. While thinking about it I was wondering if anybody ever implemented the torrent-principle for live-streams: You stream it to ten locations which then stream it to the next two and so on....
Does it work?

- Hey. We now have the correct URL's on the WikiMania:Broadcasting Page. Try again with the new URL's. Kyelewis 13:02, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

- The currently available ogg files for download ( the 2 of them) are of horrible quality... very low bitrate, and lots of clipping, plus the volume is totally off. Intention or accident? 84.56.106.62 20:42, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
- These two were early recorded talks, and for these two early talks, the volume levels in to the streaming box were rather off - unfortunately, I can only record what I get from the WikiMania conference. To my knowledge, however, these are the only two talks for which this is a problem, they just happen to be the two that we've had time to put up so far. As for the quality/low bitrate, i don't hear a problem with the quality - a ~35kbit/s ogg vorbis file is perfectly fine for speech. We have to _somewhat_ limit it to limit file size. We may get the chance to release higher-quality files in the future. --Kyelewis 00:21, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- I just tried to listen to the the Ogg Vorbis stream of the small and big hall presentations, and could hardly follow any word said. The background noise is just too much in relation to the speakers audio volume and clarity. A low-range speakers microphone, and if available a switchable portable microphone for the audience members, should be the only input signals used. I hope this can still be fixed, else probably no one will be able to
listenunderstand the Wikimania 2005 presentations via the WWW. Thanks for the effort though. Walden 14:12, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

- I guess some of the speakers are better than others at speaking right in to the mic and not knocking it about ;) - I actually haven't had any problem understanding any of the conference - most of the talks also do not have much background noise. If you have any specific examples which follow on from today, i'll have a look at the archive. Thanks, --203.46.64.54 22:08, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
