@Yves Madika: Thank you for this proposal. I have a few questions regarding the project. Note, you can change the proposal as much as you wish, until the deadline on 1 October.

  • I see there are 5 people involved in the project. One of them User:Salimas is currently not a registered Wikimedia account, and has a contact email from the university. Does this mean that the person is an employee of the university and their role is helping in accessing the content. If so, are they expecting to receive the e-scholarship also, or are they assisting you as part of their existing job?
  • The outcome of the project is, per person, "60 items related to scientific researches for the university of Kisangani". For the word "item" do you mean Wikidata item (e.g. a new Q number)? Or do you mean a previous publication from the university.
  • Can you provide some practical examples of what you mean by "scientific research"? For example, are these published scientific journal articles? You say that the conversion of these into wikidata structure is the hard part. So it would be useful to know an example of what this scientific research is. This will help the committee understand why it is hard to put them on Wikidata.
  • You say that the conversion of the information into a good Wikidata structure will take "3 to 4 days for this sole part of the project". But, the total project proposal is 4 days (November 3-6). 4 days is also the maximum that an e-scholarship can support. Are you implying that the total project cannot be completed within 4 days and therefore the first part would need to be made as volunteer work without scholarship?
  • You mention that you all "are not so far from the general campus". Does this mean you intend to visit the campus in-person? I ask this specifically because the e-scholarship program is specifically for "stay at home" activities. We cannot fund anything in this grant program which requires travel, in-person groups, or visiting places. There are other programs which can allow travel/events etc., but not this one.
  • In the section of the application about the activity, you state "Collect data from libraries, museums...". Can you say what this means, practically? How will you collect data? What is the data? Will employees of those places help you? Where is that data right now?

I hope these questions are clear. Answers to them will help our committee make their decision. Sincerely, LWyatt (WMF) (talk) 17:02, 22 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@LWyatt (WMF):
Thank you for your time. Find in the note below answers to your questions.
  • First, notice that it's a registered user. They just did not activate their meta account. This is not a university role, they of course expect to receive the e-scholarship as part of the project.
  • You got it, we mean Wikidata item
  • Good question. I give you an example with three Ph.Ds: Dr Dudu Akaibe, Dr Cimwanga and Dr Upoki Agenong'a. They are researches and professors of the Unikis. You can find their papers here, here, here, here, here. I'm not sure I understand your meaning of "hard"
  • We aware that the scholarship is for only 4 days maximum, but our project might take us 5 days. And if so we will of course volunteer for one more day.
  • No, not at all.
  • We won't be assisted by any employee at all. Most of the data we will need are online, published in international scholarly journals. --Yves Madika (talk) 17:24, 23 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
