I know the Movement charter is still under construction but do you think that Projects for Life has a chance of becoming a new project? Justadust (talk) 15:22, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

It sounds very well intended, but can you ensure that you are not the 4th Reich?
Here is how to stay solid and trauma informed:
The right to use of crown land in canada is first come and in use. Therefore, to legally use the same area anyone must ask those already using it for permission, and leave without interference if they say no. Notwithstanding clause does not apply because a)there's multiple and intersecting crisis internationally declared (fentanyl and homelessness ie. real estate policy error), b)by taking shelter they are working to support themselves and being self employed exempts section 15 of our charter, the notwithstanding clause.
I will be following to protect the invisible interests of those without the technology to participate who may already be in a common law, estoppel and through aboriginal land use title (any and every activity that supports one's livelihood is self employment) in use on or nearby where those activities take place in the future. We may need to orientate all participants to the "no harm model", and to please ignore" unhoused peoples, they are 10x as likely to be assaulted than to assault." i will find the citation from the prof of our western Canada research chair bernie paulli.
In fact to ensure safety, never silently walk by a hidden or visible camp, to simply introduce oneself even with no response "hi I'm
ana we're just cleaning up garbage but we won't come near or call bylaw or the police, is that ok?" if not keep more distance.
It is critical not to interfere, and not to call the ambulance or police unless a homeless person asks you to. please never bring animals off leash.
A reminder that intent and a war or internal conflict is not necessary to commit and be found guilty of genocide; which i assure you is far more widespread even in the richest places on earth than people realize. The primary mechanism, as in Nazi Germany; is of course talking to the authorities.
Most of the time authorities don't have the right to bother people on crown land, which is very common, their use is priority but this is just one of many or all rights that are not respected.
According to the UN 4 new homeless are created every single hour.
Homeless camps are in fact far more aligned with sustainability goals than governments are willing to admit and the abuse and harm in projects are profound and inhumane.
Most homeless people don't mind being politely approached rather than deal with authorities; if there is an issue that is substantially affecting you. Introduce yourself well beforen approaching, ask if there's a better time, reassure your not a snitch or rat, offer help like water or a cigarrete.
Thank you for your time and consideration; please feel proud of being part of the REAL solution when you follow these guidelines-please let me know if you ever find otherwise.

Hello AnaKarinaMcBee and thank you for your message.
Well.. where to start? I haven't understood everything in your message but WikiForLife's approach is to clearly describe the problems (in the case you cite, what are homeless people suffering from, what do they need?) in order to help them (if they want) and carry out actions (distribute water, food, help them find shelter, etc.) with citizens, relying mainly on associations (local and national). Project goals?

[edit]

It seems to me that the primary goal of this project is to organize and advocate for social and/or political activism. Am I correct in this understanding?

The mission of the Wikimedia Foundation is tightly focused on developing and distributing educational content; it is not an activist organization. If my understanding of this project is accurate, it probably isn't a good fit for Wikimedia. This isn't to say that it's a bad project; it's just not the kind of thing that Wikimedia does. Omphalographer (talk) 02:06, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Omphalographer and sorry for the delay in my response (I was on vacation).
The purpose of our project is to help limit (or even resolve) problems of general interest throughout the world.
And we want to do this largely through freely sharing knowledge that is as neutral, up-to-date and referenced as possible about:
  • problems/issues (their precise description, their causes and consequences if they are known, etc.)
  • positive actions (implementing technical solutions or not) combating these problems, organized/carried out by actors (NGOs, associations, companies, governments, individuals, etc.)
  • the actors in question
  • solutions implemented
It seems to me that's educational content but we can discuss about it if you want.
And all this in as many languages as possible and with great editorial and financial independence.
Later, we would also like community members to be able to create think tanks in order to organize new actions and try to invent new solutions, but this will happen later (if the project is a success). Justadust (talk) 16:00, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
