Talk:West Bengal Wikimedians/Reports/Annual Activities/2022
Add topicGreat report great year
[edit]This is solid reporting of good activity including Wikimedia community standards and also new programs that fit for the region and community.
The participation in Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves Food, and the Wikimedian in Residence programs are visible to the international community that browses outcomes from these things wherever they happen in the world. This is good documentation. I am glad to see Wiki Loves Butterfly having another good year, because this is a model for anyone to follow especially after having progress every year. Wiki Explores is a cool concept to get heavy photo documentation of important sites. I especially like the semaphore towers because I like media, and I guess semaphore was what Wikipedia-type people did 100 years ago. I see that some of these towers do not have wiki articles, which means the documentation here is critical. The drone videos are great! Everyone wants movie data, so good job with your film editing. Same with the museum editing - having data for nonprofit cultural centers is essential for the wellbeing of the global digital media ecosystem. The Wikisource activities have been especially popular in India as compared to other countries and with good reason, that Wikisource is an important archive for readers to browse when so many other regional websites have either come and gone or failed to stay up to date. As an American I never know how to react to Subhas Chandra Bose content development but I can see that people in India like anything about this guy, so good to give more people more access to fundamental documents about his life.
I like your reporting style of sharing how much money various programs cost. I like how you give credit to other wiki community partners and programs. Overall I like everything about this report. In the future ask for more grant support from the Wikimedia Foundation as you like, and grow the group because you obviously are good administrators having a good impact. - Thanks a lot again @Bluerasberry: for your continued support and detailed review of the report. I have shared your comments with our volunteers. We also appreciate a lot on how you have reacted to the campaign on Subhas Chandra Bose in a very positive way even if your perspectives on him may be understandably completely different from us. Anyway, regarding getting grant support in a sustainable way, we are still brainstorming and figuring out on how to do that for our future survival and quality output, but there are too much legal, financial and social obstacles, for which our group does not have much bandwidth to overcome those obstacles. Lets see how it goes this year. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 15:28, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
