theme

[edit]

This year's theme is "Map Up, Rise Up,"

Does this indicate a collaboration with OpenStreetMap similar to WCNA / Mapping USA 2022? Arlo Barnes (talk) 19:29, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

No, Women Camp has no collaboration with OpenStreetMap.-Manavpreet Kaur (talk) 14:02, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Can men join?

[edit]

I’m not flying all the way to India but just curious if men could join. BFDI2010 (talk) 23:56, 27 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

As you can check on the main page, this event is exclusively for women. Thank You! -Manavpreet Kaur (talk) 14:02, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Didn’t know sexism existed in India BFDI2010 (talk) 01:41, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@BFDI2010: I do not see any violation against UCoC and Wikimedia here, but I feel a bit (relatively small) of sexism in what you said. However, please don't raise the problem too far, maybe the event's purpose is to offer some experiences to reduce the gap between men and women, and that is exactly what we need in Wikimedia projects. Btw, if a small number of men can join is more helpful to set up backstage or share their opinions.  A l p h a m a  Talk 19:09, 1 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

I used to be for equality.

[edit]

Equality of Opportunity. I simply don't have the metabolism to stomach Equity. -- And worse, Wikipedia was originally supposed to replace the Thesaurus, which used to be the Epitome of Neutrality, Facts, and most of all, Reliability.

For all I know, Jimmy Wales may still be all about Neutrality, Facts, Actually Useful Information, Truth, Dependability, and being Impartial. But the original idea of "a controversial subject ultimately garnering more truth than deliberate bias" doesn't seem to work anymore. -- Why? Because at the time nobody could imagine that a large enough (and ferocious enough) group could swamp all the Earnest, the Genuine, and the Fact based. ‎-- special:contribs/88.114.83.98 21:36, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

That doesn't seem to be relevant. Arlo Barnes (talk) 21:03, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
