COVID-19[edit]

I discovered this page when I checked an edit contributed by @Quidity: at Coronation which seems to be the only area of Meta dealing with this pandemic. I have been interested in this topic ever since I started editing the article about the pandemic at Simple wikipedia. I would have been content to keep editing the topic in my own quiet corner by myself on my user page, but since I cannot get assurance that my page will not be "deleted", which to me means I lose access to my work, I am not sure what my next step should be.

Can't this community harness the thousands of blocked wikipedians some of whom have valuable skills to contribute to this effort?

One thing I see a need for is a table such as the one provided by the European Centre for Disease Prevention on their website which provides the number of covid cases, number of deaths, and the number of new cases each broken down by country. I personally like their simple format since it lets me download the numbers into an excel worksheet and then manipulate it and get things like a % column or have it sorted differently. Having this ability can reveal trends. I find the glitzy American counters much harder to work with for this purpose.

Unfortunately the ECDC table which has been my gauge of the current situation is broken this morning and without it I feel lost.

Sorry for this rant, I am just frustrated not being allowed to be part of the community in these times of confusion, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:11, 28 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
