Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy это про Бандеру и запрет русского языка? LOL Ну попросите афроамериканцев написать что-нибудь о культурной дипломатии Конфедерации:)

Admissibility of suggested articles

[edit]

Hi, I created ru:Украинский культурный фонд, from the list of suggested articles but it was considered not significant enough for the Russian Wikipedia and deleted soon after. I'm confident that it will be restored (discussion here), however it's assumed in the rules of this "contest" that suggested articles are admissible, but it may not be the case depending on the criteria of each Wikipedia edition. It may be worth mentioning somewhere? A455bcd9 (talk) 12:29, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Donbass in German

[edit]

Hi, I am creating Donbass (film) from the list of Suggested Articles in German. Anyone else write the articles?--Opennes (talk) 07:54, 26 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ведение статистики

[edit]

Здравствуйте. Где можно найти список созданных статей по авторам, чтобы потом там записаться в качестве участников Месяца культурной дипломатии Украины? Timur Rossolov (talk) 17:28, 25 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Range of "suggested articles"

[edit]

As I've never been travelling in Ukraine, much of what I happened to perceive as Ukrainian cultural heritage was determined by what had found entrance into the more general European cultural heritage. Those subjects and those works of art/literature/music are major "ambassadors" of Ukrainian heritage. I believe there will be many Central/Western Europeans who share this kind of perception. Accordingly, I'm quite sure that articles on topics such as the following should also be included in the list.

To sum it up: It's that kind of links between our cultures (via Victor Hugo to Liszt and the movies, via Gogol to Janáček and the Western philharmonic concert halls, via Beethoven and Weber to piano albums, student song books and quasi-proverbial popularity) that make Ukraine a part of Europe, rather than artists who are barely known outside of the country. In fact, following those traces of Ukrainian heritage in European culture could make a highly interesting series of lectures, e.g. on the programme of the Ukrainian Institute. That kind of topics could really be substantial contributions to Cultural Diplomacy.

Please, do consider adding items of this kind, regardless of whether or not the author/composer/painter was a Ukrainian. In these cases, it's the content that matters. -- Martinus KE (talk) 15:43, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Culture and languages

[edit]

Hi! I've been editing a few articles about languages spoken in Ukraine as they tend to lack some vital info. I was, however, wondering if they count to this project. As a linguistics student I would of course count them but what's the opinion of the organisers? Kaljami (talk) 20:06, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Questions

[edit]

If I only add references and images to an article, do the bytes that I add are counted? For example, In this edit, I added 4008 bytes (but all of them are sources and images). Do I get four points, or shouldn't they count since they are only images and references?. And also, my contributions on Theater in Ukraine, is considered as a contributions to a (Suggested article, or improved article). Finally, if I create and translate an article from the suggested articles, do the sources that I copy and paste from English to Arabic are considered as "new sources"?? --Malkawi99 (talk) 04:29, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Translating without any knowledge of other languages XD

[edit]

[edit]

The banner inscription in German is wrong:
10 Februar – 10 März, 2021
should be:
10. Februar – 10. März 2021

Can someone please correct this?

Wikipedia only?

[edit]

So, what about the other Wikiprojects like Wikiquote and Wikisources? E.g., while translations have been mentioned here, Wikipedia articles really aren't the place for any relevant amount of translations from the original texts, be it just quotes or full texts (if in public domain or under CC). --Ehitaja (talk) 13:54, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

When will be awarded our certificates/souvenirs?

[edit]

The contest ended two days ago, when will we be awarded our certificates and souvenirs, and how will it be awarded to us? Luke780 (talk) 16:44, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would like to find out. --NGC 54 (talk / contribs) 09:52, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would also appreciate some update on this, It has been 5 days since the end of the event and it doesn't seem like anything has been updated yet. --PurpleTheory (talk) 17:34, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I don't see any information about the announcement of results, further more I don't see admins responding to the participants questions.--Amr F.Nagy (talk) 19:22, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
At Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month/Participants it says we will wait two weeks after the contest ends to see if any Good Article nominees pass reviews (which would earn an additional 25 points each). I wouldn't expect the top participants to be named until then, and prizes will likely be awarded sometime afterwards. Also, I expect the organizers aren't answering questions because they're busy checking the work submitted. I've helped with a few editing drives and I know it can be a hectic time for organizers. – Reidgreg (talk) 18:06, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Any updates?

[edit]

It has been nearly three weeks since this contest ended and their has still been no updates, when will we hear new information regarding the contest and be awarded our certificates and souvenirs? Luke780 (talk) 16:57, 30 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi, Luke780 & others. Thanks for participating in the challenge and sorry for not getting back here earlier. As Reidgreg has pointed out in the section above, we've been checking summitted articles & finalizing results. The number of participants proved higher than we expected – while that's great, and we are grateful to everyone who joined, it means that checking the results takes a bit more time than we expected. The pandemic surge in Ukraine doesn't help either. We expect to contact all participants who will be awarded souvenirs and/or certificates some time this or next week. The timing of souvenir delivery will depend on individual cases (whether the award needs physical shipping, which country it needs to be shipped to, whether there are any pandemic-induced logistical delays etc.) --AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) (talk) 10:58, 1 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Update on certificates & prizes

[edit]

Hi everyone. Thanks to everyone who took part in the Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month on Wikipedia & helped discover Ukraine to the world! The organizers are starting to distribute awards for participation.

All users who've made any contribution to the challenge according to Wikipedia/Wikidata rules can receive online certificates of participation. We're currently contacting all participants (those who have more than zero points according to the scoring system) so we can prepare the certificates. Some participants have already received emails from us, others should receive them today or tomorrow.

Apart from certificates, we are planning to award online or physical prizes/souvenirs (dependent on the level of participation) to active participants. We are currently finalizing details on this part and will contact participants who'll be awarded separately, later in April. --AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) (talk) 13:51, 8 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Latest update on certificates

[edit]

Hi everyone! We've sent official certificate of participation to everyone whom we've heard back from. If you haven't received it (or hadn't received an online form to collect the data previously), please check your spam folder. If you still don't see it, feel free to contact me (preferably on the talk page or via email anton.protsiuk(_AT_)wikimedia.org.ua).--AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) (talk) 20:31, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Update on souvenirs

[edit]

Hi everyone!

We're planning to send physical souvenirs via post to around 50 most active participants. We've already reached out to some of them & will reach out to others in the coming days. We plan to start shipping them next week. We will publish more detailed results later in May.

As a reminder, all participants with any viable contribution have the possibility to receive online certificates; we've already sent them to everyone whom we received a response from. If you haven't received it (or hadn't received an online form to collect the data previously), please check your spam folder. If you still don't see it, feel free to contact me (preferably on the talk page or via email anton.protsiuk(_AT_)wikimedia.org.ua). --AntonProtsiuk (WMUA) (talk) 14:13, 7 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
