Not so helpful

That site gets its data from SHERPA, which this page recommends, and it doesn't look like it identifies whether a paper already uploaded is the legally allowable version? Nikkimaria (talk) 13:02, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Because dissem.in is the backend for OAbot's suggestions, checking it to determine copyright status can't do any better than the oabot suggestion itself. That's not a fault of OAbot, or dissemim; if there was an automatic way to determine copyright absolutely, then this would be a real bot not a global editathon requiring review. I second the sentiment of Nemo, I mean, what is said on the page now is interesting for me, but I would like more of a "checklist" of things to do to be sure within reasonable doubt that the link is OA. Or at least some examples, here's two: (1) if the link points to an institutional domain (e.g. a University) and it looks like it is coming from the webpage of one of the authors, it is probably self-archiving and green OA and thus ok. (2) the link come from the personal blog of somebody with no reasonable connection to the authors, it is probably a pirated copy, we want to avoid this (and even if the article is indeed OA, we probably prefer linking a more reputable - and, possibly, stable - source). --CristianCantoro (talk) 10:26, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
