Wikipedia Library Leaders
[edit]Hi @TWL coordinators:
we wanted to reach out to you about getting feedback on what we learned from the #1lib1ref campaign that we ran in January. We collected both the outcomes and the experiments that we ran as part of the campaign. Join the conversation, by creating new sections or by joining an existing section, Astinson (WMF) (talk) 16:04, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
Blog updates
[edit]I enjoyed this project and felt it was successful and I am glad the numbers seem to bear that out. The one area that I thought was NOT effective was the use of a constantly updated blog post to get the word out. People kept relinking to the same blog post with the "Now updated!" header which muddled the message and made it difficult to know when there was new information especially since the main blog was a more general Wikimedia blog. I felt like the campaign pages were super wordy and feel that there needs to be a slightly narrower message and some clear "This is where you can go for more information" direction, even if it's a page with daily updates on the campaign page. I liked all the activity on Twitter but wanted to see someone putting this stuff together and not just updating a single blog post as the week went on. Jessamyn (talk) 17:26, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hey @Jessamyn: I think I thanked you for this edit, but I forgot to respond -- its been a busy month. Thats a really good point: more data/updates in the moment. We are working on that a fair bit: the hashtags tool has significantly improved in the last couple months to make tracking of the hastags more dynamic, and useful: http://tools.wmflabs.org/hashtags/search/1lib1ref. The idea of having more up-to date impact makes a lot of sense though for encouraging energy and focus among participants, Astinson (WMF) (talk) 22:15, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
