Article translation
[edit]Comment: To find people willing to translate articles its not necessary who understand how projects work. --Itu (talk) 01:49, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
- It can and does depending on local standards. Translating from say English to Russian may be fine, but if there is a review system with different and not always compatible standards, then there are potential issues. I cannot recall the last time we had an original reporting article from another language to English outside of Spanish Wikinews. --LauraHale (talk) 02:12, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
Icelandic Wikimedia Conference
[edit]What's the point with iceland here? While i can not imagine that there will be a international Wikinews-meeting in the next years (except wikimania for the one and a half Wikinewsers who will be there), why in particular iceland? --Itu (talk) 19:24, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
- The Wikinewsie Group is going to be incorporated in Iceland. Given that, we want to get a Wikinews project started in incubator in the Icelandic language. We also want to encourage Icelanders to contribute to Wikinews. The best way to do that is to have a meeting/training session in person. It is not intended for the wider Wikinews community, but one or two European based Wikinewsies to present and conduct training. --LauraHale (talk) 21:52, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
