Thanks and checkusers

When someone thanks a user on the wikis the checkusers can now see that. Everybody can see that actually. The new thing is just the related information (including the IP address). --Matěj Suchánek (talk) 12:53, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Draft template

@Johan (WMF): The {{tech news draft}} template is still there on translated pages (except for Hungarian, which was updated because I updated the translation). The good news is that this is the last newsletter issue that you need to edit before marking for translation once again—thanks to the patch I just announced (marking missing translations), next week you can mark the page for translation again without the need for editing it beforehand. The bad news is that the need for marking it for translation twice probably won’t disappear… —Tacsipacsi (talk) 14:59, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

Delivery

Looking at the MassMessage logs, the system seems to have decided to ignore the fact that the translate tags are wrapped in <nowiki>/<nowiki> and denied MassMessage delivery to multilingual wikis (Meta, mediawiki.org, Wikidata, Commons etc) where the Translate extension is installed for that reason. Or so I assume from the error message in the log, anyway. I've manually posted on a number of community pages. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 16:53, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Yep, the sandbox page contains unescaped <translate> tags. (I especially payed attention to escape it; it’s <translate> on this page, but unfortunately the frame:preprocess() call in Module:Tech news unescapes it.) This probably wouldn’t really be a problem if the syntax was valid, but the main point of that bullet point is to introduce a new syntax that will be valid only from Wednesday (Tuesday on MediaWiki.org)… Unfortunately I have no idea how to prevent such errors in the future. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 18:04, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
