False german translation[edit]

Hello all together!

Unfortunately, it seems, that the latest tech news (week 43) had an inaccurate translation to the german version (ping @Luke081515:). Especially the part with the stopped deployment of MediaWiki at October 14. Look at this changelog: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tech/News/2015/43/de&diff=14152029&oldid=14152018

The translation of the german part back into english would be:

The development of a new MediaWiki version was stopped at October 14. No new code was released for the rest of the week, which means, that changes will not happen for this week.

This is false:

  • the development wasn't stopped, code was merged into all project repositories (if needed)
  • Furthermore, __this__ week, changes will happen, they are planned in wikitech and there are no plans to cancel these deployments

I've corrected the german translation in these changes, but the "old" version was already populated to Tech news subscribers. What do we do now? :) --Florianschmidtwelzow (talk) 16:48, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Florianschmidtwelzow: Oh, thanks for pointing it out. Updating the (18) pages Tech News was sent to individually with clarifications is my normal modus operandi in these situations. I could take care of it tomorrow, when it's not well past midnight for me and I'm so tired I'm just likely to make more mistakes. /Johan (WMF) (talk) 22:36, 19 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Johan (WMF): Would be great, thanks :) Let me know, if I can assist you. As far as I know, only german is affected, so it would be sufficient to communicate a german correction :) --Florianschmidtwelzow (talk) 07:24, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
No worries, should be done now.
(And we all make mistakes. I sure made bigger mistakes than this one within my first few weeks of doing things for Tech News.) /Johan (WMF) (talk) 20:54, 20 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
