Populate the dump with thumnailed pictures - my solution

[edit]

By generating an HTML dump, people improves difficulties to populate this HTML dump with the good pictures. First of all, it's important to know that not only thumbnailed version of pictures are directly included in the pages. I assume that the the image repository has all pictures used in the articles we want to dump. I assume too that the dumpHTML process will generate the good thumbnailed versions. After that the only one question is : which ones are used. For that I have a script to parse the HTML pages generated, and I extract the <img> href attribute values. After that you only need to make a cp for each file. Contact me to get the code to do that, it works perfectly for me. Best regards. Kelson 11:27, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also, you do need a higher resolution image for each printed thumbnail, as images with low resolution look ok on-screen, but awful on paper (e.g. Bug 3840) . Titoxd(?!?) 19:20, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
It depends what you have to do. But for some uses, it's simle not possible to have the original images... a DVD has only a few GB... ;-( Kelson 12:43, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sounds like we will need two image collections - one full-sized set for a paper release and one thumbnail-set for CD/DVD releases. A paper release is not planned at this time for English Version 0.5, but we plan English paper releases at some point. Walkerma 21:33, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

cleanup/typos

[edit]

AutoWikiBrowser has integrated tools including a 'cleanup' (spacing, formatting nitpicks) option and a 'typo' option (formally RegexTypoFix). All articles that need a once over could use this treatment. JoeSmack 02:25, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
