Talk:Single login poll
Add topicthe trolling problem on 3 could be fixed by banning creation of accounts that match with users on other wikis unless you have an account with that name on one of the other wikis
so say someone has the name billg on en and someone else has it on fr and in the other wikis it is free
after the merge either of the users of the name billg could claim the name on ja but noone else could plugwash 19:05, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- While this would be theoretically possible, both Jamesday and Kate, the main proponents of this approach, are not willing to implement it. So on these grounds I'm not including it as a poll option.--Eloquence
Why can you only vote for one option? Can't we use approval voting? Angela 20:19, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Tim had expressed some concerns about that, I think. I'll talk to him about it.--Eloquence

- Thanks. I think more important than the method of conflict resolution is the long-term consequence that in proposal 1) and 2), there is a global namespace which new names must not conflict with, whereas in proposal 3, only names which are actively used on a wiki are reserved for that wiki.--Eloquence
