About the e-mail address
I see everyone who requests for an account has an e-mail address like XXXX@wikimedia.org. How this kind of e-mail address is created.--Pratyya Ghosh (talk) 13:33, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi there! You'll actually notice that the domains of the email addresses are @wikimedia.org.uk and @wikimedia.ch. This means that that these users are from Wikimedia Chapters around the world, and so have a relevant email address from that Chapter. You're unlikely to see someone with just a @wikimedia.org email address as these are Foundation staff/contractors who usually request an account through an alternative method. - Yup. Basically, to get an @wikimedia.org account, you have to be employed (or have some similarly official position) with them. Us "normal" editors don't get them. – Philosopher Let us reason together. 13:40, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Do I need to be an admin in any project of WP in order to have an account in Foundation Wiki?--Pratyya (Hello!) 10:06, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Not necessarily, but you have to show that you are an editor of good standing, and provide a reason for requesting access. --Rschen7754 20:49, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
