Rephotography

[edit]

Hello! I noticed that Project Korikath is focusing on users taking photos with their smartphones. You might want to take a look at the Helsinki rephotography project, which uses the Ajapaik app to let photographers take new photos with their smartphones based on old photos so you can compare how the place looked way back when and how it looks now. Yupik (talk) 19:45, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

amazing, thanks a lot for the information. this is really interesting. is there any way to contact the helsinki project leaders? or just start a collaboration with them? Wasiul Bahar (talk) 20:27, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm so sorry for taking this long to answer; I never got a notification that you had answered :/ @Zache: would you come answer Wasiul Bahar's questions, please? :) -Yupik (talk) 14:05, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Asansol and Durgapur

[edit]

Our Korikath team in India has covered almost every streets of Kolkata and surroundings. Our fellow member Saradindu Bhattacharyya has also covered several places (including tea gardens) in the Dooars. However, I feel the lack of good images of the industrial cities of Asansol and Durgapur, and we should conduct a phototour for those cities, similar to the one done for the Dooars. Hello @Sbb1413 thanks a lot for raising this to us. I appreciate your hard work for Project Korikath.
Pinging @শরদিন্দু ভট্টাচার্য্য dada here as he is the most active member in Korikath india and doing photowalks and phototour regularly.
Though we lacks of manpower and enough capacity in india. But we will try our best to cover the places you mentioned here.
Thanks again. Wasiul Bahar (talk) 19:38, 6 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mailing list for Project Korikath

[edit]

Dear Korikath Community Members,

Project Korikath has experienced rapid growth in recent months, now encompassing contributors from seven different countries who can communicate in eleven languages collectively. We are also doing global bilateral collaboration more frequently than ever. In the past, when our community was smaller, we coordinated our activities in a closed and informal messenger group.

Currently, our contributors have diverse communication preferences, but one common ground for everyone is email. We believe it's crucial to establish a formal mailing list, similar to any other Wikimedia community, to facilitate the dissemination of announcements, formal messages, provide archiving capabilities, and ensure privacy protection. Some of our contributors favor mailing lists as their preferred mode of communication.

I propose the creation of a formal mailing list with the address "korikath@lists.wikimedia.org," where the Korikath Steering Committee members will take on the role of moderators. However, we need the consensus of the community to proceed with this initiative, and I invite all Korikath community members to share your thoughts on this matter. --Wasiul Bahar (talk) 07:08, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Community endorsement

  • Support Support - Korikath now needs a mailing list for better email communication among its members coming from diverse regions. Besides this, I remember one contributor was unable to join the social media channels due to privacy reasons and coordinating with him became tough, a mailing list will solve this problem. And ofc we can notify all our members in one mail and will be able to be connected with the other parts of the movement through this list. -- BIDROHI Hello.. 13:41, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
