Talk:Policy
Add topicI recommend collapsing the No Original Research policy on Wikipedia. It has no real benefits and serves only to restrict users. I remember people used to have a relaxed attitude to NOR on Wikipedia. It was thought of more as a guideline than a rule. People would bear it in mind but disregard it if it was diminishing the quality of an article and it was only nutter deletionists who treated it like gospel. I also think POV, Synthesis, Notability and most importantly Verifiability, not Truth should be dissolved. --86.138.52.77 21:52, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Um, no. Not even the slightest chance. J.delanoygabsadds 21:59, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
I'd like you to ignore my last comment. I was inebriated when I posted it. --86.138.52.77 01:09, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- I take that back. I might have been inebriated but I was right as usual. WP:NPOV should stay though but it needs to be seriously moderated. --86.133.173.68 15:08, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Not enebriated here. I've taken the hatchet to the page, simplifying its structure and content. Was rather negative in places, which I've fixed. It gives every indication of not having been modified since the dark ages. The "scope" section ... is it helping? Why not get rid of it if it's just clutter? Tony (talk) 02:22, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

[edit]No major changes to the page in nearly three years. Is it really the case that there have been no new policies or major changes in that time on any project? Is anyone keeping this page up to date? Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 06:38, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Definition of policy
[edit]A policy is a standardized interpretation of common MediaWiki terminology, often including practical procedures, to maximize the benefits for the entire Wikimedia community. This definition has been here for 10 years but seems quite non-standard. Does it have any special value? Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 06:40, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Authoritative location
[edit]This is the authoritative location for policies that apply to all Wikimedia project. Really? I doubt it. Rogol Domedonfors (talk) 21:13, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
