Thanks for adding me up I am representing the Central Luzon Chapter ( Pampanga ) Franz710 (talk) 08:39, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
- What geographic division do you suggest for other areas? So far, we only have one member from Central Luzon, three in NCR, and one in Cavite. They can establish a Chapter. --Filipinayzd (talk) 09:17, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
Feasible chapters as of 2021
[edit]As PhilWiki Community membership started to increase from 20 to almost 40 as of the last count, I agree that we need to push for local chapters. Based in the discussions in our Facebook group chat, a Greater Manila, a Greater Naga, and an Overseas Philippines chapter are feasible and sustainable. We can start there in the meantime. -Filipinayzd (talk) 03:21, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
Given the geographical locations of the members, I suggest two (2) initial local chapters for the PhilWiki Community in the meantime.
(1) Greater Manila Chapter - It includes the communities within Metro Manila and the surrounding regions. Included are the communities of Tagalog, Kapampangan, and non-Manila natives in diaspora within the National Capital Region.
(2) Bikol Chapter - It includes the communities within the Bicol Region. Included are the communities of Central Bikol based in Naga City and Rinconada Bikol based in Iriga City.
Other feasible local chapter could be the Overseas Philippines which we were looking forward to for the upcoming years. Rinconada Chapter can form their own depending on the new memberships from the Rinconada District. The Tagalog Chapter and Kapampangan Chapter can also be formed out of the Greater Manila Chapter.

- It makes sense, Rinconada Chapter can be created out from the Bikol Chapter if the number of Rinconada speakers in the user group continue to increase. -Filipinayzd (talk) 15:13, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
The final names of the proposed chapters will still be agreed by its prospective members. For example, the name Greater Manila can be Mega Manila, Metro Manila, or simply Manila, etc. which depends on the suggestions of the members. Meanwhile for Bikol, it can be Greater Naga, Metro Naga, or simply Naga.
Also, we can visit our membership database to count the members coming from the Rinconada District and also include those who are knowledgeable in Rinkonada Bikol. We need also to check if a local chapter based in Iriga City is feasible.

Proposed Policy
[edit]Proposed Policy on Establishing Philippine Wikimedia Community Branches:
- PhilWiki Community recognizes the active role of local Wikimedia communities in developing programs and projects, and in expanding the reach of the organization.
- A branch is an integral arm of the PhilWiki Community that will advance the organization's objectives.
- Active members may seek to establish a branch in their locality whose majority must be Wikimedia contributors for at least a year.
- A branch must be a group of 5 or more active PhilWiki Community members, who aim to further the reach of the organization.
- Members of a branch must be based within a locality, specifically:
- a geographic area not larger than a Philippine region,
- a geographic area not smaller than a city, municipality or a congressional district,
- an ethnolinguistic region, or
- an island-province or neighboring provinces within an island.
- A community chapter must have a designated coordinator who will serve as the head of the community chapter and representative within the organization.
- PhilWiki Community members shall be enlisted under the branch according to his or her locality.
- Members who are based outside any locality shall be enlisted under the nearest branch.
- Through a concensus, the members of the branch shall choose an institution/s, town/s, city or cities within its locality to serve as the hub/s of the branch.
- After reviewing this proposed policy for the local chapters of the UG, I believe that the proposed chapters which met the qualifications are the Metro Manila Chapter and the Bicol Chapter. Upon approval, we can now proceed with the preparation for the establishment of this two (2) initial local chapters. -Ralffralff (talk) 06:30, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
Amending: Changed the term chapter to branch and other minor details.
5. Members of a community chapter must be based within a locality, specifically:
- a geographic area not larger than a major Philippine island region (i.e. Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao),
- a geographic area not smaller than a city, municipality [or a congressional district],
- an ethnolinguistic region, or
- an island-province or neighboring provinces within an island or island groups
