Massviews - querying on categories error

When I try to query against the following two categories

Massviews returns this error: "An unknown error occurred when querying" <the category>

I can't give a permalink because the results page doesn't return in either case. But I think I'm pasting in the full URL correctly - I've successfully used Massviews quite a lot

@SunloungerFrog: You try: https://pageviews.wmcloud.org/massviews/?project=en.wikipedia.org Dušan Kreheľ (talk) 09:31, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
I'm afraid that I still get the same error --09:43, 23 October 2024 (UTC) SunloungerFrog (talk) 09:43, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
@SunloungerFrog: Its see on software error. Dušan Kreheľ (talk) 09:52, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
@SunloungerFrog This should be fixed now. We don't know the specific cause but I suspect phab:T377803 given the timing. Let us know if you have any other issues. Best, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 00:02, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

If you go to https://pageviews.wmcloud.org/massviews/ and select "wikilinks", the placeholder is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book:New_York_City. Since the book namespace was deleted from enwiki years ago the placeholder should be changed to something else. * Pppery * it has begun 04:59, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

pageviews.wmcloud.org Issuance restrictions

I suggest introducing the possibility of limiting the length of the response to the request. It often happens that I need only the top 50, and thousands of rows are loaded. The browser hangs. Thank you. Dgho (talk) 14:31, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

I'm not sure which tool (i.e. Topviews, Massviews) you're referring to, but they have to process all results from the API if we want it sorted by pageviews. Let me know if I'm misunderstand you. Best, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 04:56, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, I understand. It's just that petscan.wmcloud.org has such a setting. Dgho (talk) 10:33, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Massviews Analysis using incategory, not deepcategory

Is there a way to make Massviews Analysis only scan articles directly in a category? In most cases deepcategory may be more useful but sometimes a lot of off-topic articles are included if articles in subcategory are included. For example, when using en:Category:Environmental non-fiction books a lot of climate change novels show up because of some miscategorization and other category branches are very large where it would be more useful to go through one category at a time. Enabling users to specify depth or to exclude a number of subcategories would also be very useful.

If that's currently not possible, could you please add this incategory scan functionality? Prototyperspective (talk) 12:12, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

Apparently it's already possible by unchecking "Include all subcategories" when going back to the start page by clicking on "Do another query". I think it would be good if this checkbox was also included in the result page because I used to go to a result page to then change the query and it's also helpful to rerun a query without the subcategories. Specifying the depth and categories to exclude would also be useful. Like on Commons, there is a lot of miscategorization that causes issues such as the Non-fiction books category branch including mostly articles about people and a few films at the top.
