Pageviews by country
I have observed that the statistics for pageviews are analysed per type of agent only. In Wikistats there also statistics of pageviews per country. I propose, thus, country-specific statistics to be added at the pageviews analysis for every page, or, if this is not technically plausible, this to be done in a specific measure in Wikistats. This idea, once utilised, will give us knowledge about the most popular articles for every country (especially for Wikipedias such as English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic which are used from the majority of readers in many countries) and will help to cover the gaps in various languages as the Wikipedians will have a better idea of the most needed articles based and on the pageviews in other foreign language Wikipedias. Unable to see any statistics
If I open links to the tool, it redirects to URL with empty pages
parameter. If I type name of page, it doesn’t provide any variants. 217.117.125.83 10:11, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Siteviews give no correct data for past periods, no article numbers
I note that Siteviews do not give correct data for past periods. I ran https://pageviews.toolforge.org/siteviews/?platform=all-access&source=pageviews&agent=user&range=this-year&sites=sw.wikipedia.org%7Caf.wikipedia.org%7Cmg.wikipedia.org%7Cyo.wikipedia.org%7Cam.wikipedia.org%7Czu.wikipedia.org%7Csn.wikipedia.org%7Cig.wikipedia.org%7Cso.wikipedia.org%7Cha.wikipedia.org for 3 different years (this year, last year, year before) to prepare an analsis for upcoming wikiindaba. I note that each year gives the same number of pages etc., i.e. it just shows the number of pages etc NOW, no matter which year I am looking for. It seems it only adjusts the views / daily views, not changing the rest. Plus it only shows the total pages, not number of articles (which is more relevant for looking at the usefulness of a wikipedia). Can it be changed soon? Kipala (talk) 20:25, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Kipala This is intentional. The Statistics heading says "(all time)" next to it for clarity. When this was built, we could not feasibly compute the historical stats in real-time. However it seems it might be possible to offer some real-time data using the new Edits Data REST APIs. It is a rather challenging feature update but I think it would be worth implementing. Unfortunately time is slim is right now :/ I might recommend proposing this in the upcoming Community Wishlist Survey which is slated to happen this coming January. Same goes for the topic below about langviews per country.
- Note that Siteviews does already show both "Pages" (all namespaces) and "Articles" (main namespace), as requested. MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 14:08, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
Can we please get langviews per country and countryviews per language?
The old stats had language views per country, and country views per language. I found this very helpful in comparing African language wikipedias. We do not have this any more, right? Can we get it back? like here: https://stats.wikimedia.org/wikimedia/squids/SquidReportPageViewsPerLanguageBreakdown.htm#errata Kipala (talk) 20:35, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
- @Kipala As mentioned in your last report here, the "Page Views Per Wikipedia Language" data that you've linked to here has replaced by the new stats.wikimedia.org. You can filter to show stats for specific language Wikipedias (or any WMF project) using the form on the left. There is also a tabular view if that is what you prefer, though it does not show percentages or feature a graph like the old report did. I believe this provides the same data you're asking for, unless I'm mistaken? This doesn't make it particularly easy to compare African language Wikipedias side-by-side, but you could export the data and compare them together in a spreadsheet.
- As of late we now also have public data for the most viewed articles per country, though this hasn't been built into a visualization tool yet that I'm aware of.
- I look forward to incorporating both of the above into the Pageviews Analysis suite of tools when time allows, but unfortunately I don't think it will be in the near future. Hope this helps, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 14:09, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
What I really need once a month is a page (only one page, without need to browse several pages) with a following list:
Name of a Wikipedia language; number of views for last month
This list should have a line for every Wikipedia, arranged by number of views --Perohanych (talk) 20:09, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Perohanych It sounds like Siteviews might fill that need. You need to select the desired wikis manually, and there is a limit of 10 to be shown at one time, but if 10 is enough you could bookmark the page. For example this shows 10 example Wikipedias for the past 30 days (this link should always show the most current data): [1]. Hope this helps, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 21:45, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
- @MusikAnimal, it is a really great tool. But my question remains. How can one find the 10 most visited wikipedias? The next 10? All I need to have a list of top wikipedias arranged by number of pages visits.
Below is an excerpt from the last WikiHerald w:uk:Вікіпедія:Віківісник/2021-12
«According to the results of November, the Ukrainian Wikipedia is "16th in the world" in terms of traffic. This is the highest figure for the last 5 years (until then, attendance statistics were irrelevant). In a year it has risen by two steps and has become ahead of Wikipedia in Swedish and Czech. In terms of temps of growth, it ranks second among the twenty most popular Wikipedias after Vietnamese.

Draft getting Error querying Pageviews API
I am getting error message Error querying Pageviews API - Not found. for pageviews for Draft:Maréchaussée. The pageviews tool worked fine until today: I tried other drafts and other articles, and they all work fine, so no apparent outage. Using Win10/Vivaldi 5.0, but same results on other browsers (will check others OSes after saving). Mathglot (talk) 00:58, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
- Same on iOS/Safari. Mathglot (talk) 01:02, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Pageviews tool bug
If the browser windows is just the right size, then the content will be rapidly cycle between adding the scrollbar and removing it, making the whole thing shake unusably. I assume that it is some redraw on resize event. My monitor is 1920x1200. I am using Firefox. Video of the bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psz619k5dgo . Thue (talk) 18:21, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
