Talk:Movement roles project/Thematic Organizations
Add topicOther discussions
[edit]The draft parameters incorporate points from a 2011 Movement Roles discussion. See this brief guide to partner organizations from 2011 and discussion on examples of partner organizations. Also see this discussion on GLAM groups as a hypothetical example of partner organizations. Bishdatta (talk) 04:59, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Minimum Rights
[edit]Under discussion:
- Simplified access to grants.
- Receiving in kind aid to develop.
- Having access to private communication channels with WMF, other partners and chapters. Bishdatta (talk) 04:59, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Do the actual ideas cover all constellations?
[edit]The mission of the Partner Organizations is described as "To support and promote the wikimedia projects within a specified thematic field". And that is what was consensus in all prior discussions. Nevertheless something just goes through my mind: Where in the actual range of models do we find incorporated groups which are supporting the general mission like chapters? lyzzy (talk) 20:54, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
- Both support and promote the general mission / the projects within the context of some focus. For chapters the focus is operating within a national geography -- working with partners in that region, supporting contributors and groups within that region. For partner orgs / thematic organizations the focus is operating within a theme -- working with partner groups within that theme, supporting groups dedicated to that theme. –SJ talk 12:49, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Fundraising partnerships?
[edit]There was a comment about how thematic orgs could make an agreement with [chapters] for some sort of joint fundraising; it seemed too specific for ths document. Of course any affiliate could make agreements or organize programs with any other; but that is not part of the definition of how they wuold normally be expected to work. –SJ talk 10:57, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
